Title: BRSC Record Procedures
Post by: cyanchycki on April 13, 2010, 07:59:31 PM
Well another season is just around the corner and I thought it is time to inform everyone of the procedures for submitting for BRSC Records.

As many are aware Paul Ross of Calgary is the records chair.  The measuring committee members are Paul, Herb Lang from Saskatchewan and Grant Schick from Manitoba.

To qualify for a Canadian Record, your shoot must be registered with Paul and the BRSC.  You must also possess a current BRSC Membership.  The Current Records are listed on www.benchrest.ca.  If you happen to shoot what appears to be a NEW Record, the target must be signed and dated by the Official Scorer along with 2 Referees.  The backers MUST be included with the targets and the holes MUST be visible.  If ANYTHING is out of order, the targets WILL NOT be considered for a New Record.  You have 30 days from the day the supposed record has been shot to get the targets to Paul Ross.  He will measure the targets and forward to Herb and then to Grant.  The 3 results will be AVERAGED out to see if indeed a NEW RECORD has been shot.  If you have indeed broke the record a Certificate will be awarded.

There are NO EXCEPTIONS to the rules.  If you cannot get backers well I guess NO RECORD.

As an example 4 of us broke the Canadian 2 Gun Record at the August shoot in Selkirk.  We had no ideas they were records until, well, long after.  It would have not mattered regardless.  It rained so hard that the backers were just mush.  The records would not have counted.  We will try again this year.

The same rules will apply for a Canadian International Record.  As long as you are a member in good standing with BRSC and shoot a Canadian International Record at a US shoot, get the targets signed and backers submitted to Paul within the 30 day time frame.

REMEMBER YOU NEED THE BACKERS AND TARGETS SIGNED AND DATED.  It would be nice to see a photo of you as well with the scorer and referees.

I think this should sum it up.

Per Paul’s approval his address is:

#26 2106 50th St. SE

I forgot to mention to send some of the details in regards to the match and the location as well maybe as a small writeup about the rifle, load etc.  It would be nice to start collecting some of this info for a scrapbook.

The certificates will be done up individually to reflect the shoot.

Here is a sample of the BRSC Record Certificate.
