2 guys from Lethbridge are probably (might be) going to come to the july 10 and 11 provincials with me. One only wants to observe (can he bring his 308 i'm working on getting him to shoot the match) and the other one will bring his br rig.
-Not to be an idiot but how many rounds a day do we usually shoot at the most? I'm guessing 120.
-Where is the closest hotel?
-How much are match fees for the 2 days? 40 $
-Registration at 7 am shooting starts at 9am
-Is Maxine going to be there regarding membership purchases.
-Can we show up Friday and camp?
I just want to be organised.

50 on record for the day and whatever sighters you need. So yes that is more than enough. That is 7 sighters left per target with 120 rounds.
Closest Motel is in Cochrane about 1/2 hr drive.
Camping, yes there is room just no electrical. Can park up top close to the firing line or down below maybe a 1 minute walk to the loading shack.
Fees are probably 60.00 but Tony will confirm.
Not sure if Doug and Max will be there but I am pretty sure if you leave the money with Rick for a membership he will get it to Max. Or just mail her the funds for the membership.

Cochrane is your best bet for hotels closest to the range. There is a Sandman, Days Inn, and a Super 8 there.
You can camp at the range. No hookups at all.
I will be there Friday mid day. People who want to practice or camp should let me know so we can let them in.
Bring bug spray and sunscreen. Also bring food and drinks. No lunches provided at this match.

It is called the Stoney Nakoda Casino. Pretty pricy, but fancier than just a bed. Not sure distance but doubt the extra few miles to Cochrane would cover the extra on the room!

O.K. guys and gals I am at 14 shooters for the first leg of the provincials. That is assuming that the Bouwers are coming. The rest are confirmed, but I haven't heard from the wasp whisperer yet. Are you coming Calvin?????? If so we will have 2 relays.

Sorry Tony. I wanted to go but I had a choice to make. I was planning on going to Alberta 2x's (1st leg of Provincials and Nationals) until I got talked into going to Kansas. Unfortunately I had to pass on something to go to Kansas.
It is hard to have to make the choices. After talking with Rick Graham via e-mail I really want to go to Tacoma to shoot. That is probably a bigger commitment than Kansas.

Hi Doug here: I have to agree with jeff of having only 3 min to set up flags and equip there are 2 things i will not miss. 1 the last game of the stanley cup . 2 and jeff setting up in 3 min. :) What about when we change benches, do you guys get to practice for 4 hrs. I say we forget about making up some mickey mouse rules and put some thought into brenchrest canada. Gentleman and Ladies we have one hell of alot of problems to solve. If you WANT to get this problem solved, Tony seeing you don't have elections at rosebud, I suggest you stock up on candles. and thats all folks from me till the AGM.

OK, guys....
Bughole, works very good at drawing benches and sharing flags. Depending on the shoot and how many "COMMITTED" shooters there are, the rule book NBRSA, Say's if it's a national shoot, you must have benches drawn, and targets setup at least by Friday (Or day before shoot) for shooters to practice and setup flags.
Late comers:
These people can be taken care of very easily with Bughole. When they show up the day of the shoot, they can draw from the remaining benches, But! they will always be on the second relay if there's two relays. I really would not recommend this type of scenario if at all possible.
In my experience over the last 20 years, to make a shoot go well and smooth here are some suggestions.
1. Pre-Register. Confirm ! We do have the technology to do this. (Including using the phone)
2. Have all draws (benches, relays) complete by Friday NOON. Backers setup so shooters can set their equipment up to be ready for the day of the shoot. All targets can be made up at this point (easy with Bughole). I truly believe that referees DO NOT have to be present when using Bughole. All the person does is click a button to draw for benches. We do have to trust the Scorer. This means less people involved, or having to be there. (Think about it, what can a referee do about the bench drawing with a computer?).
3. Conflict in drawing benches, Some people HAVE to be on relays that don't conflict with their partners or new shooters. This again is easy to do in Bughole. The scorer can move the people to a different relay and\or Closest bench open so they arn't on the same relay. We do have to appease these people and new shooters if you want to grow.
3. Have all clubs follow a guild line of what Classes are shooting when. (Suggestion, 1st day, LV 100, HV 100, 2nd day, HV 200, LV 200)
4. Late comers... It is much easier to take a shooter out of bughole then it is to add them later. So if you have a potential shooters showing up, make sure you have them in the Bughole! It's the only way you can have a computer driven "Draw for benches" to be fair.
5. Don't do a bench rotation the first day, keep the shooter on their same bench for both classes. 2nd Day rotate benches using this formula (half the number of benches in use = Bench rotation) This way everyone gets to shoot from a different backer.
6. Jeffy the 3 min suggestion for setting up flags was joke right? Nobody can run out 200 yards setting up flags and be back in 3 minutes.. Or people sharing flags can't either. You have to appease people to keep them coming, and if you do have a 3 min flag setup, 3/4 of you guys will die of strokes or heart attacks!!
Just a suggestion guys! As you all know I am not a member of the BRSC. But I have alot of experience running and observing shoots .

I just want to wish everyone good luck in this first leg of the Provincials. Would love to have been there but see you in 3 weeks.
I have a pick for this first leg of the shoot. I feel it best to keep it quiet. I will let Dwayne in Kenora in on my thoughts so I do not BS you guys after the shoot.
Shoot straight and keep them small. Rick remember the camera......

Good day today. Notable feats: Wayne Miller turned a nice round .087", Tony Gauthier won the LV 100 and Dan Opel won the HV 100. Weather was nice in the morning, but turned cool and rainy in the afternoon. Full details and pictures to follow tomorrow's activities.

John I love there facility. On the edge of the mountains to boot. I have only shot there once but it is a VERY INTERESTING place to figure the conditions. Then there is shooting over the 100 yard berm to 200.......
We will see what comes in just over 2 weeks at the Nationals.....

By the time I pick up all the food and such I doubt I will get there much earlier than that.
On another not Mike is looking for a Graham flag rotation, anyone who has graham flags and no one on there rotation? If so contact me and we will make the arrangements.

Unless someone to want to be in my rotation. I have Graham flat top flags 4 100's and 3 200's. But only 4 spikes so would need 3 more stands. I also need to return the Prairie Provincial cup.

Reminder to everyone that the second leg of the Alberta Provincials will be this weekend Aug 21-22.
Sporter 100 and Unlimited 100 (10) shot on Saturday, Unlimited 200 (10) shot and Sporter 200 on the Sunday.
Start times will be 9:00 each day with a lunch break around noon, and finishing around 4:00 in the afternoon each day.
4-Gun awards to be presented following Sunday matches.
Rule book in use is the NBRSA.
If you haven't heard from me already, let me know if you are coming and I will get you in the computer.

The final leg of the 4-Gun is in. Sat was Sporter 100 and Unlimited 10 Shot 100, followed on Sunday by the Unlimited 10 Shot 200 and the Sporter 200.

Wow what a year for screamers at Rosebud. Either the conditions are getting easier to shoot on the side of the hills or the shooters are getting better.........................
My screamer count for Rosebud this year is 6. Count it..................6. How long had that place gone without? Then WHAT HAPPENS? 6 in 1 year. Great shooting guys.
Side note, a GREAT year for screamers across the board. Rosebud 6, Regina 1 and Selkirk 4.

Rick I will send the 5 that I have to send your way to you. You could then sign the 2 for Paul from this past weekend. You could probably hook up with him and then the other 3 from the Nationals should be signed by Paul and he can mail them out to the respective owners.
