I have a new 6PPC rifle coming with a Krieger 13.5 twist barrel.  I gather that 6mm bullets in the 60-68-gr. range should stabilize, but I'm wondering how heavy I can go with this barrel.  Has anyone found 70-75-gr. bullets to stabilize in a 13.5-twist barrel?

BR Equipment + Components / Any Barts bullets for sale in Canada?
« on: October 20, 2022, 05:46:31 PM »
Is there anyone in Canada who has a supply of Barts bullets for sale, or who can import them into Canada for sale?  I'm specifically looking for light (65-gr.) 6mm. bullets for my 6PPC with a 13.5" twist.  From the twist tables I've consulted, nothing over about 68 grains is likely to stabilize in this twist.

Centerfire Discussions / Source for benchrest-quality bullets in Canada

I'm looking to buy some 6mm. bullets for a new 6 PPC.  It's not really a BR rifle, but I'd like to source some really topnotch 6mm. bullets--lightweight, 60-68 gr.  Is there someone here in Canada that can supply these?  I know where I can get some Berger 65s and 68s, but am wondering whether there are some other high-accuracy bullets out there for sale in Canada in that weight range.

Centerfire Discussions / Weighing Powder Charges

I'm not a benchrest shooter, but I thought I ask you guys about weighing powder charges.  First, do you actually weigh your charges?  And second, if so, how much precision do you require in your scale?  This question might be better directed at the F-class guys, but I thought I'd check in with you precision shooters.

BR Equipment + Components / Re: WTB 6 PPC chamber reamer

I'd like a neck diameter of .265, .266, or .267.

Freebore of .020, .030, or .040.

Does anyone have a 6PPC chamber reamer they'd like to sell?  Or rent?

Phil, I have Sinclair and a 21st Century hand tools.  I can speed things up a little on the 21st Century tool using a drill.  Still, I'd rather just be rid of this chore.

I'm wondering whether anyone in Canada is set up to neck-turning (for a profit) for other shooters?  My guess is that this would best be done by someone with a lathe.  I find neck-turning by hand a pain and would gladly pay to have a couple of 100 cases turned for me.

The last CM barrel I ordered was from Benchmark through Gary Eakin at Big Horn Sales. Do you have someone lined up to do the bluing for you? That may be more of challenge than finding a barrel supplier.
I'm surprised to hear that having it blued would present a challenge.  Isn't this kind of Gunsmithing 101?

BTW, I'm now vacillating between C-M and stainless.  I've discovered that there is a far greater supply of SS than C-M, and, as a result, I may decide to go that route.  If I do, I'll have the whole rig cerakoted to avoid the blued/stainless look, which I really dislike.

Centerfire Discussions / 6 PPC Chamber Reamer Availability

Does anyone in Canada sell chamber reamers?  I'm guessing probably not, but thought I'd ask before looking at the US suppliers like PT&G.  I'd like to purchase a 6 PPC reamer for a build.

Centerfire Discussions / Custom BR Action
« on: February 03, 2019, 11:13:49 AM »
Since I've already asked about barrels, let me ask about actions too.

Who in Canada can supply the top custom actions?  Most would have to be imported, I guess.  I'm thinking of BAT Machine, Stiller, Kelbly, Defiance, Surgeon, etc.

I'd like to build a custom varmint rig, but with a BR action and topnotch barrel.  I'd probably go with a single-shot action.

There is a very good barrel maker, HW Precision (site sponsor) I do not believe they do CM at this time.
Out of interest what is the your need for for CM.
Purely aesthetics.  I don't like the blued receiver/stainless barrel look.

I'd like to purchase a top-of-the-line match-grade barrel for a project.  I would like chrome-moly.  It would be in 6 mm., with a bull-sporter contour (.700 diameter at the muzzle) and 1-14 twist.

Who in Canada might have this barrel in stock?  If no distributor up here in Canada has one, is it possible to order directly from a US maker like Krieger, Shilen, Bartlein, Broughton, etc.?

Any assistance with this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
