You were asking about a one piece rest. I remember reading a good article on 6mmber

Guns of the week, Harvey's Hot Rod Anschutz BR50 week 80.

Good Luck

3  BR Discussions / Rimfire Discussions / Re: rimfire benchrest 50 yard "club" rules links on: May 18, 2015, 06:20:11 PM

There are no "official/formal" rimfire benchrest competitions in Canada that I'm aware of. We started shooting rimfire benchrest in Kenora in 2010 with only one class called .22 Benchrest Class. We settled on the RBA rule book and added some "club rules" to make it easier. After looking at available targets, we settled on the IBS target because it scored like our centerfire score targets and beginners could shoot a reasonable score. The intention was to get people out to shoot. In 2011 we added a semi auto class because the 1022 shooters wanted their own class separate from the bolt actions. By May of 2013 the quality of rifles had improved, the top 3 were a Cooper TRP3, Anschutz and Kimber. At that point we added the Unlimited Class for serious match rifles to separate the March scoped equipment from the Cooey Model 60's. The existing bolt action class became Sporter Class. We normally shoot 3 targets in a day for a total of 750 points. Usual turn out is around 15 shooters. Unlimited Class shooters mostly use Center X and most Sporter and Semi Auto Class shooters use SK Standard Plus. At some point I could see us changing to a more challenging target like the USBR. We order in pizza for lunch and its a nice relaxing day.

Are you guys referring to all 50 yard rimfire benchrest as BR50 regardless of rule book or type of target?

Speedy has his opinion, but I don't know if it applies to an all stainless action.

Good shooting guys.

I am curious about what equipment the Factory shooters were using. If you could provide that information, I would be grateful.

I don't know about experts up here. There might be one if Calvin shows up. Our next centerfire score match is Sunday August 25th, 200 meters. Its usually windy for that one. You are located about 5 1/2 hours from Kenora and about 8 hours from Selkirk. You are welcome to come out and give it a try. After the match is over you can try pounding at 500 meters here.

Sounds like two conflicting uses. In 100 and 200 yard Score the .30 BR has gained favor. Downside is recoil unless its a 13.5 lbs gun and scarcity of match bullets in .30 cal. I use a 10.5 pound Light Varmint Group gun and shoot both Score and Group. I can get past a 30 BR if I shoot straight. For shooting 500 or 600 meters an 8 twist 6 BR with 107 grain bullets would be the choice.

I believe you can get them at the Shooting Federation of Canada but not at a good price. We got ours from National Target in the US.

17  BR Discussions / Centerfire Discussions / Re: Canadian Barrel Makers..... on: February 21, 2013, 06:07:45 AM
Call me a dabbler, I have a life outside of Benchrest. I have only used Ted's barrels and they have been excellent. Its the convenience of dropping a money order in the mail and the barrel shows up in the mail. No import B.S.

Also, Canadian barrels are not mass produced. The barrel maker spends the time and effort to produce his best barrels and somebody like me puts a tuner on it. Some guys could have the best barrel in the world and not know it because they can't tune and they can't shoot.

Over on the Archery forum they use the "Two Mules For Sister Sarah" technique, carve a notch for a pinch of FFFF black powder, light it on fire and pound it through. When you wake up, the Match is over.
