I have a supply of mini trimmers for the PPC made by Homer Strickland. They are just what is needed to try and minimize the tools that you carry around. I got mine in 1997 and have used it ever since on all PPC chambers. I had one of the major trimmers and it was big and heavy with a clamp on it that you set up, clamped it down and turned a handle to trim. These are about 1 1/2" long, about 5/8 square and I have never adjusted mine since day one. It trims off the shoulder of a standard PPC. At the setting I have it may do one barrel at 1.497 and another at 1.496 which does not matter as long as they are the same for each barrel. What I do after my group I come back put the brass through the die, clean the primer pocket, run the brass through the Mini-Trimer and then reload. Will take to the PO and see what shipping is.

Bill, I was thinking the other day that I hate hauling my wilson around with me.

Question, it is stamped .262, are those for just 262 necks or will my fat 269 fit?

If so I will take one.

OK, here is the deal, anyone on this board sends me $45.00 personal check to cover cost of the exchange and postage. If there is anything left over,(which looks like there could be), that extra will go to Rick to help cover the cost of this board. I can not get fairer then that. You don't need money orders which costs money. OK that's the deal. The only thing I personally would like back, is your likes and dislikes with this tool. Personally I like mine and I use it all the time.

Have received both cheques and Mini-Trimmers on their way. Once I get down to the bank and postage I will announce how much is going to Rick. Again use these trimmers and let everyone know, GOOD or BAD.

Received the trimmer in the mail today.  Sweet little piece of tooling.  Not sure if I have any cases to try it on that need trimming but I will search when I get caught up on my nightly doings on.

I have shipped out 3 trimmers, 2 here in Canada and 1 to Finland, The one that went to Finland ended with a nick on it but otherwise good. Remember, use them and let the board here know, good, bad, or so-so. I have enough confidence in the product. Just as a matter of thought. The trimmers are made by my good friend Homer Strickland, once from Alaska and now residing in Arkansas. He sells them for $40.00, I add $10.00 for shipping and if anything is left over out of the $10.00 I send to Rick to help keep this board going. So now you can guess the tremendous amount of money I get, pays my way to all over the world, EH!

Yes mine made it all intact to MB.

I got to use it and it appears to work.  I will say that it is not something I would use to trim alot of length off of a piece of brass but it does work for the routine upkeep throught a weekend of shooting.  Quick and easy to use just like chamfering necks.  A few spins and the excess length is gone.  It definately beats hauling that big Wilson around.

I just downsized and lightened my loading box so I am not about to clutter it up again.

Thanks Bill.

Now just teach me how to tune and shoot and I will be even a happier camper......... Huh Huh Huh

I know it's been a long time since I got my trimmer, but a friend has absconded with mine and now I have to order another so it reminded me to post a critique..

The good thing about this trimmer is that it easily trims each case before reloading.  It's quick.

The downfall is when you do 80 cases in a row, it's a bit heavy and strains the fingers/hand.   If you were trimming 15 or so it's perfect and that is what it's designed for.

Says enough that I'm buying another one.

Still $45.00 personal cheque to you Bill?

Cheers

Greetings from up north of the Arctic Circle!
I'm the dude from Finland who got the .269" mini trimmer with the little nick in it's shoulder area. I smoothed it with diamond paste and old PPC case (adapted to power drill), got rid of the nick and trimmer is working flawlessly at the moment.
I have trimmed about 400 PPC cases and I'm using power drill + K&M power adapter to ease up the trimming process, takes about a few seconds per case and no any sore fingers or wrists.
Whole trimming thing is often overlooked and many forget it, but I have noticed that it's essential for accuracy, specially for those who have 1.500" chambers in their rigs.
I haven't got anything negative to say, very easy to use per Mr Gammon's instructions!
Cheers,
Jari

If you watch Jack Neary's video on brass preparation, he stresses the importance of constant trimming. Again these trimmers are not meant for removing a lot of material at once. I use mine after every firing and have since I got mine in 1997. The price is $50.00. Of the ones I have sold I have a $1.58 going to Rick. Greg I said to you $45.00 but I was wrong, but I will stick to that price for you. Does not look good for Rick, EH!
