XBR test
« on: March 28, 2010, 06:26:49 PM »
Shot a few groups this morning, but wind got so strong I couldn't keep anything on the bench and ran out of heavy objects to hold down the light ones so gave up. Got to 30.4 gr. and was doing 3180 FPS no pressure signs, but would need to work at getting much more in the case. Had a little vertical in the groups but got it out with seating depth. Not really any better than most other powders I have used, but is very clean! Will test more when the weather warms up more.

How many clicks? I got it to 54 clicks and it was getting about 1/2 to 2/3 up the neck.

I was at 52 clicks. May need to get a longer drop tube. Did you run any over a chrony?

The test charges I threw with my Harrel showed the same as Tony, 30.4 grs was 52 clicks.  54 clicks was 31.6 grains.

Didn't shoot it over the chrony. looks to be fair bit slower than 133.

How was it for accuracy at 54 clicks? My groups at 50 cl. and 52 cl. were quite similar. Wish I could have tried the 50 cl. with the bullet seated a little deeper. I started with the marks twice as long as deep and it really preffered them .005 deeper. Will play with it some more when I can be out there when the wind is a little lighter. Not much fun shooting when you are scared it will blow the gun  off the bench! Paul had his new gun out and I forgot to get pictures. The stock is the same color as my L.V. stock.

.252 agg (3x5 shot groups) at 54 clicks. It was -6C, winds were light. I really need for things to warm up. I doubt the testing at this temp means all that much.

I agree that it is not warm enough. Sunday was supposed to be warme, but it was cool and windy. Just couldn't stand to sit around looking at all that powder!
