308 x 1.5 Barnes caliber (also known as 308 short or 308 Ackley)

 Anybody ever experienced shooting this obsolete caliber , 308 x 1.5 (also known as 308 short or 308 Ackley). Can't find any info on it. Found a rifle sold by an estate. Thought 30 BR would be almost similar but BR go-gauge won't fit the chamber when trying to close the bolt.
