Anyone looking for a barrel that hasn't email/talked to me - please do so by Monday!

Mine is still on the way but I was looking to start at 28.0 and likely find something better between 28.3 and 28.6

Hi there,

putting together an order for target shooters in the new year. A $100 deposit per barrel (EMT to crankyshooter@gmail.com) and send your barrel specs to the same email address will get you on the list. Order times have been 4 months up to just over 6 months. For a typical LV barrel I expect it to be slightly over $400 landed at your door. I've already got requests from a number of shooters, just wanted to make sure if you're looking for a barrel you get the opportunity.
cheers,
Bob

BR Equipment + Components / Bartlein Barrel order going in by early Jan
« on: December 04, 2013, 10:18:13 AM »
Guys,

I'm now bringing in Bartlein barrels and looking to place an order by early January for benchrest barrels. A $100 deposit per barrel sent to me with your specifications will get you on the list. Email  or EMT can be sent to crankyshooter@gmail.com

Current order to delivery times are just over 4 months. Shipping prices will also vary a little but a LV 6mm barrel would likely cost just over $400 delivered to your door. That's with the poor exchange rate we currently have as well.  Here's a link to their website: http://www.bartleinbarrels.com/
cheers,
Bob

Curious what shooters do with their used benchrest barrels?

Anyone rechamber them? Have a 6ppc varmint rifle with the same action as the primary BR rifle? Anyone have them rebored?

Does anyone know where the equipment list for WBC 2013 is posted?

Work goes into the worlds by people committed to the team(s) even when they are not going to the event! I personally didn't realize how much effort goes into making this happen until having gone through it. Many thanks to Dave & Bill in this regard.

With so much interest for the upcoming worlds in St. Louis, the qualifying process changes are going to prove out a good thing. I hope the interest carries through to 2017 in New Zealand.

Back home as of noon today!

Met some great shooters and was an overall learning experience. Great to meet George, Vera and Andy for the first time as well!

Sounds like Canada will be able to have 3 teams in St. Louis in 2 years! With the new team qualifying protocol approved - it should work out well for those that want to go!

Time to go unpack!

Fire report:

There are wild fires all around Sydney and there were fires around Penrith/Silverdale - which are where the main hotel and the range are located. The range was on a possible 15 minute evacuation call on Wed however, turns out the fire went down wind of the range by 2 km's. We heard the bombers flying overhead and the fire was put out - end of fire risk for the range!

Pictures of the fire equipment when we got back to the hotel on Wed. and there was 3 times this equipment show up after dark:

Keep the pics coming.  All the best Monday.

What is the snake protocal?

While all common sense is to hit the snake with a cleaning rod or run away with great speed (shooting it with your handgun from the hip like in Texas is just not an option here) - the best defense is no offense. Do not move, wait for the snake to get bored and move off on its own. Evidently the Eastern Brown snake is activated by movement.

A snake was seen during the morning flag placements today (in preparation for race day tomorrow!!!).

75
fyi - I've never been to a range before that has a detailed protocol for how to deal with snakes. And of course the most common are in the top ten most deadly snakes in the world.

The amount of paperwork has been a real eye opener - won't be relocating to Australia any time soon...

We're learning Rosebud all over again - the range has a more predictable side now!

After the generator is up and running I'll post details of what process we put in place to charge 12V batteries for campers at the range.
