Are you in the Calgary area? Why not come out on June 12 to the Rosebud range? We are having a Varmint for Score shoot. You don't have to be a member and it will be an informal match, ie no BRSC membership required. Also, I encourage everyone to use their name, either in their posts or in their "handle".

Gary, great to hear of your exploits. Fantastic aggs were shot. A teen agg at 200 is something to marvel. The possible record was shot by a shooter fairly new at the game? Can you confirm? Also what are you seeing as far as equipment etc? Did you see much XBR being shot? Many tuners?

Interesting question. I think the bags are really heavy already, when just using play sand or heavy sand. I think my Edgewood mini gator is about 25 lbs with heavy sand. Not sure what advantages lead would have over heavy sand. There has always been a lot of discussion that bags can be too hard, I think lead shot would take you down that path, and the rifle would tend to jump or bounce out of the rear bag under recoil.

Doug Seib just called to inform everyone that there will be a Group Shoot in Regina on June 26, 27. This will be a BRSC sanctioned event. These Regina shoots are always a pleasure. Concrete benches, reloading shack, level grass covered range etc. Camping available. Not to be missed! Looking forward to seeing everyone there!

Something to stick on the workshop wall when the BR gods deem it time to deliver the tiniest bit of encouragement in the guise of a screamer, which causes some poor slob toiling away behind the controls of a BR rifle to be pushed just far enough down the slope that he becomes a virtual stranger in his own family and a permanent fixture at the rifle range.
Other than the above, it is a great idea....

I loaded up a few formed cases I will try those tomorrow if it doesn't rain to much just to see .I think it might just have been the spring being unlubricated [I hope lol].
This still points to the fireforming process being the issue. The .055 protrusion sounds in the ballpark.
Do you have to run the 220 russian through the sizer to close the bolt on virgin brass? I know I can't close the bolt on virgin 220 russian all that easily, so I run it through the sizer with just enough bump to get the bolt to close with some friction. This is a bit of a crush fit to the chamber and holds the brass tight during fireforming. I still think the firing pin could be pushing the brass far enough forward that you don't get a firm strike on the primer.

I had this happen in my tikka once , never happened again ,I will go check the protrusion shortly and post it.

Glad to hear you haven't pierced one. It can be from a number of factors including weak main springs, oversize or worn firing pin hole, sharp firing pin etc etc.
What load are you using to fireform?
