« on: August 27, 2019, 09:08:46 PM »
Ray is back in action, organizing things, taking our money and calling the match.  Also thanks to Mel, Derek and Man Kay for scoring.

Conditions were fairly mild, although there were some surprises as always.

Next match is September 18 - Hope to see you all there.

Here are the results, sorted by class and rank.  Additions and changes to the Equipment List are appreciated.

...and here are the ongoing numbers for the year-end title.  You have to shoot at least 5 matches to get a reasonable average...

I believe the spreadsheet is correctly calculating the top 5 - Please bring any errors to my attention!

Our annual BR50 Championship has been renamed in honor of the late Bob Goehring who was the driving force behind Rimfire Benchrest in the Lower Mainland.  We miss him greatly.

Ray returned to his position as money taker and match runner.  Ray also did a stellar job of filling the prize table for this event!  Also thanks to Mel, Derreck and Man Kay for scoring.

And thanks to our sponsors!

Club Events / Mission - 2019 Jim Latham Memorial VFS Shoot
« on: July 13, 2019, 02:36:23 PM »
Weather was chilly and drizzly for the seventh annual Fraser Valley VFS Championship.  While conditions seemed benign, there were things happening on the range...

As usual, we started at 300 yards followed by 200 and 100 yardages.

Thanks to all our shooters for participating and keeping the schedule tight.

It was definitely a group effort - Joe ran the match and prepped the targets, Pete, Vlad and Allan ran the targets and Art did the scoring.

Grand Agg:  1st Joe Mendham, 2nd Ted Veale, 3rd Art Harder
100 yard Agg:  1st Aubrey White, 2nd Art Harder, 3rd Joe Mendham

« on: June 27, 2019, 10:25:29 AM »
With Ray away, Paul stood in as money taker and match runner.  Also thanks to Mel, Derek and Man Kay for scoring.

We welcomed Dave, Mike and Tammy from Vancouver Island, and they proceeded to show us how it is done.  We need to keep telling ourselves that competition improves the breed.  Seriously, we do hope they return soon.

Conditions were tricky, with shifty spring breezes.

Next match is July 27, the Provincial Championships - Hope to see you all there.

Here are the results, sorted by class and rank.  Additions and changes to the Equipment List are appreciated.

...and here are the ongoing numbers for the year-end title.  Once again, you have to shoot all matches to get a reasonable average until more than 5 matches have passed.

Now I have to get myself some more wind flags...

Conditions were wet, cold and rainy.  The pros shot through it, although the rest of us mortals took a bit of a hit!

Next match is June 22 - Hope to see you all there.

Here are the results, sorted by class and rank.  I managed to copy most of the equipment list, additions and corrections accepted.

Club Events / Mission - April 2019 Benchrest Group Shoot
« on: April 30, 2019, 08:50:12 PM »
We shot Group at our regular monthly match.  A full turnout of 12 shooters were treated to a lovely day, with calm conditions to start but getting increasingly tricky as things warmed up.

We actually had to turn away a shooter, and plan to go to multiple relays at a single distance if the popularity of the event continues to increase.  I'll remind everyone it's important to let us  know you are coming, and to also let us know if your plans change.

Thanks to Joe for preparing the targets and backers and calling the match, to Art for organizing the finances and to Paul who showed up to measure all 120 targets.  Also thanks to those who ran and stripped the targets.

Congrats to Joe for his sizzling .085 target at 100 yards, easily best group of the day!

Next month we host our yearly BRSC Registered Group Shoot on May 26 - Heavy Varmint, 5x5 shot groups at each of 100 and 200 yards.  If you haven't told us you are coming, please get in touch.  Hope to see you there.

Club Events / Mission 22 Rimfire Benchrest - April 27, 2019
« on: April 30, 2019, 08:09:01 PM »
The match was very much a group effort - Thanks to Ray for administration, and to Derek, Art,  Mel and Man Kay for scoring.  Great to see Man Kay back!

Conditions were a little tricky with the tail end of the storm that went on to dump snow on the BC mountains and much of Alberta.  Scores weren't quite as shiny as last month!

Next match is May 25 - Hope to see you all there.

Here are the results - The Equipment List is looking much better - Thanks all for filling out the forms.

Match will be held Sunday, May 26 at Mission Rod and Gun starting at 9am.  Setup begins at 8.

Heavy Varmint, 5 x 5 shot groups at each of 100 and 200 yards.

Practice day is Saturday, May 25 starting at 9am.  The club cafeteria is open both days.

This is a BRSC registered shoot, so you must be a member of Benchrest Shooters Canada to participate.  (If this is your first BRSC registered shoot, this requirement is waived.  BRSC also recognizes NBRSA members.)

Please get back to me (mdumont@uniserve.com) or Joe (joemendham@hotmail.com) if you plan to attend, or with any questions, comments or concerns.

Thanks to you all for your support, and hope to see you May 26th.

« on: March 24, 2019, 10:39:48 AM »
First match of the year, and first match without Bob.  We all miss him, but managed to pull it together.

Gord has donated a memorial trophy in Bob's name to be given out for high score in our July tournament - Thanks Gord!

The match was very much a group effort - Thanks to Mel for organization, Ray for phoning all participants (nice to talk to a real person) and handling administration, and to Derek, Art and Gord for scoring.

We welcomed Dominic as a new shooter - Hope to see him again.

Congrats to Paul on the win in BR, and to Ray for the win in Sporter.  Also congrats to Mel - After a slow start, he pulled off best target of the day.

Next match is April 27.

Here are the results - I need to pester everyone for the Equipment list next month!

Club Events / Mission - March 2019 Benchrest Group Shoot
« on: March 18, 2019, 08:58:19 PM »
We shot Group at our regular monthly match.  A full turnout of 12 shooters got what should be the last sub-zero match of the spring.  Conditions started quite mild, but as usual picked up for the 200 yard distance.

We'd like to welcome 4 new shooters - Jim, Tony, Chad and Matt - Hope they had fun and that we'll see them again.

The old guard stood down to give everyone else a chance to play.  If the turnout continues to grow, we may have to shoot relays and only a single distance per match - Other suggestions are welcome.

Thanks to Joe for preparing the targets and backers and calling the match, to Art for organizing the finances and to Paul who showed up to measure all 120 targets.  Also thanks to those who ran and stripped the targets.

Congrats to Pete on winning the Grand Agg and 200 yard match and to Mike for his 100 yard win and best group of the day.

Next month our regular shoot is on April 28, where we will shoot Group as a runup to the BRSC Group Shoot on May 26.  Hope to see you all at both events.

Club Events / Mission - February 2019 Benchrest Score Shoot
« on: February 14, 2019, 01:03:19 PM »
Six hardy shooters showed up to shoot Score for our February match.  Temperature was around minus 9, about the coldest I can recall for one of our matches.

Conditions were bright and mild to begin, picking up for the 200 yard targets as the clouds moved in setting the stage for the afternoon snow that was to follow.

Joe prepped the targets, Ted showed up as a non participant to run the match and let Joe concentrate on shooting.  Ted and Vlad took care of running and stripping the targets, Art handled scoring.  Thanks to all!

We upped our game to 5 targets at each range, and switched to 10-X scoring from our usual 10-11 version.

Congrats to Art for the win.  Joe was close on his heels and would have won it under the old scoring system!

Next match is Sunday, March 10 and we'll shoot Group.  Have to start prepping for our registered BRSC Group Shoot on May 26.

And the results...

Club Events / Mission - January 2019 Benchrest Group Shoot
« on: January 07, 2019, 04:28:50 PM »
We shot Group at our first match of the year.  We also shot 5 groups at both 100 and 200 yards (rather than our usual 4), as per benchrest convention.

The storm that passed through Saturday night on its way to wreak havoc on the Coquihalla had largely dissipated by Sunday morning, and conditions were much better than forecast.

Nine hearty souls showed up to compete.

Thanks to Joe for preparing the targets and backers, running the match and measuring the targets.  Thanks also to those who helped set up and retrieve the targets.

Next month our regular shoot is on February 10, and we'll be shooting Score.  Hope to see you all there.  If you plan to come, please email me (mdumont@uniserve.com) or Joe (joemendham@hotmail.com) to reserve your spot.

Now that we shoot 5 groups at each range, the Bughole program happily provides us with better reports.  Congrats to Allan and Art for small groups at 100 and 200 yards respectively.

Club Events / Mission - December 2018 Benchrest Score Shoot
« on: December 04, 2018, 04:04:06 PM »
We shot Score at our regular monthly match.

We were treated to a lovely late fall day, with conditions only rising a little for the 200 yard targets, certainly enough to blow you out of the 10 ring (ask me how I know!)

10 of our regulars showed up to participate.

Joe prepped the targets, Art & Joe ran the match, and Art scored.  Running and stripping the targets was very much a group effort!

Congrats to Ken on his win and great shooting at 100 yards.

Next match is Sunday, January 6 2019 and we'll shoot Group.  The 2019 schedule is complete and is posted on the club website.

Club Events / Mission - November 2018 Benchrest Score Shoot
« on: November 16, 2018, 03:34:32 PM »
We shot Score at our regular monthly match.

We were treated to a lovely fall day, with conditions only rising a little for the 200 yard targets.

8 shooters showed up to participate, and we welcomed two new shooters, Dustin and Noah.

Joe prepped, ran and scored the targets, ran the match, and helped out our new shooters.  No wonder he didn't participate for some targets.  Art handled the $ and the safety briefing.

Congrats to Art on the close win!

Next match is Sunday, December 2 and we'll shoot Score again - We'll also have our usual year-end gathering at Mission Springs after the match.

And the results...

Club Events / Mission - October 2018 Benchrest Group Shoot
« on: October 21, 2018, 08:49:11 PM »
We shot Group at our regular monthly match.  A full turnout of 12 shooters got spectacular weather, with beautiful sunshine and calm conditions, although some small switches caught me at 200.

Mark shot the rail - Probably should have removed the results, but thought you might find it interesting.  With more conditions, the playing field gets a lot more level!

Thanks to Joe for preparing the targets and backers, running the match and measuring the targets.

Next month our regular shoot is on November 11, less than the usual month away.  Hope to see you all there.  If you plan to come, please email me (mdumont@uniserve.com) or Joe (joemendham@hotmail.com) to reserve your spot.

BRSC - Benchrest Shooters Canada / Mission - 2018 BRSC Nationals Results
« on: August 06, 2018, 05:03:16 PM »
22 shooters came from all across Canada as well as the US to compete in the 2018 BRSC Group Nationals at the Mission and District Rod and Gun Club.

Temperatures rose throughout the two days of competition and the Mission mountainside took full advantage to present us with challenging conditions.

Hugh Williamson proved the wind was his friend by winning both 200 yard aggs as well as all three combined aggs, Light Varmint, Heavy Varmint and Grand.

Thanks to our target and scoring crews - Couldn't have done it without you!

Special thanks to all competitors, especially those who traveled to attend.

Looks like we'll do it again next year, as long as the club brass will give us the range - Hope to see you all again.

Here are the results:

Club Events / Mission 22 Rimfire Benchrest - July 28, 2018
« on: July 29, 2018, 04:45:44 PM »
Our July match is our yearly Tournament, with prizes galore.  Bob proclaimed this year "the year of the hat".

The weather was warm, and the conditions quite mild.  Bob trounced the field, winning the match as well as every target.  He also shot a nearly perfect 2450 on his first target, but there are still more worlds to conquer.  Ray prevailed in Sporter.

Good to see Nev out again, along with new shooters Jay (a Junior) and Leo.

Thanks to Bob and Paul for running the relays, to Bob for doing all the scoring and to Ken and Werner for doing the arithmetic.

I was a little slow with the Equipment List forms, please let me know if there are any serious lies or omissions that need correction.

Here are the results...
