Probably BS……… but, here goes my speculative hypothesis.

Every producer has their own formula and process for Nitrocellulose and even still burn rates vary between lot to lot.  Part of the process is the addition of different stabilizers and or deterrents in order to control and maintain the ballistic stability. However, it may well be - changes of these same beneficial additives - that contribute in part to its recalcitrant behavior in the environment.

Went today to pick up my new rifle and meet Ian and Kelly for the first time.  Very nice people.  Looks like business is doing well and they’ll be moving to a larger facility soon.  I saw a lot of nice stocks and even one of the new Canadian JTR’s.

I have never seen an all Canadian JTR they must be nice; however with the supply concerns as they are, another option you might want to consider is the Kelbly Club.  It is my understanding that it is a copy of the Borden R&M stock that Robertson has been making for Jim.

A friend of mine, Harold Miller, wrote an excellent article for Precision Shooting called: On the Value of Velocity Tuning. You may have already read it.

http://www.brunswicksportsmansclub.org/files/OnTheValueOfVelocityTuning.pdf

In the article he refers to some published  Vihta Vuori  information on powder temperature and how this can move you out of the sweet spot. Interesting.

The last while I have been doing a lot of reading on the different characteristics of powder and there is a lot to read….  I haven’t figured it out yet.

Ordered mine mid Dec. and was given a 3 month delivery.  So I am a bit anxious.  Colour well; I know it will be nice what ever colour it comes in.

I attended my first two registered matches with equipment lent to me by Jim Borden.  It was at the second shoot that I meet TK Nollan.  I was in the gathering mode and ended up buying a bore guide from TK.  I will never forget, I asked TK for a receipt and he gave me a real funny look.  He said; Ken I am going to give you some advice:  If you are hoping to get into Benchrest and stay in Benchrest don’t ask for receipts, you will get discouraged real quick and possible give up prematurely. Well, good or bad, the advice seems to be working because I have been in a perpetual mode of gathering ever since.

Things just keep getting more complicated. Even for a new rifle on order the process has changed.  And now I am in need of components. I’ve figured out how to get a new scope and have one on order but bullets are not going to be that easy.  What’s everyone doing?  Any tips?

I have been checking out the pictures of your Western ranges and I have to say, I am quite envious.  You guys are real lucky.  In Quebec learning how to read the wind is challenging to say the least.

Thanks for this new forum; a positive move forward.
