Off Topic / Long range shooting pics
« on: September 11, 2010, 08:14:32 PM »
Today I went with some friends and shot some far and away steel plates. Nothing beats trying to shoot steel at long range and seeing your buddy's bullet trail through your spotting scope.

The targets were set from 525 to 800 yards. Being super windy today or succes rate was not as expected but we still had great fun.

The steel is on the hillside. The target that you can easily was our sighter. There was a 6" disc at 525 yards that would rotate and make lots of noise when you hit it. That was real fun. The others are on the bottom of the hill but you can hardly see them.
The last pic was from 800 yards.

Plans are in the works for holding a match in Lethbridge for May 2011. We will be building backers this winter. May is usually very windy so it should be fun.

We need some dimensions for target sizes. The size of the mirage lines. and the minimum and maximum space between targets.

Mike.

Centerfire Discussions / Group measuring caliper.
« on: August 05, 2010, 07:03:15 AM »
Who makes a group measuring caliper? I like the one that has the magnifying glass with the with the little pin that holds the caliper in place. Does anyone make one like this anymore. I looked in Sinclair but is there a better one.

2 guys from Lethbridge  are probably (might be) going to come to the july 10 and 11 provincials with me. One only wants to observe (can he bring his 308 i'm working on getting him to shoot the match) and the other one will bring his br rig.

-Not to be an idiot but how many rounds a day do we usually shoot at the most? I'm guessing 120.
-Where is the closest hotel?
-How much are match fees for the 2 days? 40 $
-Registration at 7 am shooting starts at 9am
-Is Maxine going to be there regarding membership purchases.
-Can we show up Friday and camp?
I just want to be organised.

Off Topic / My 15 minutes on accurate shooter.

I wrote this a long time ago on the 6mmbr website. No big deal but that year marks the start of my addiction to rifle precision.

Check out the Dec 21, 2007 post winter shooting story.

Centerfire Discussions / Reamers
« on: June 14, 2010, 08:18:04 PM »
Ok. I am in need of a new barrel but want to get my own reamer followed by a Harrel die. I went to the pacific tool & gauge site and I am guessing there is tons to chose from in 6ppc. I just want to find out what is current in neck diameters freebore and headspace  etc... I saw that they have a 6mm PPC Boyer Pure Magic and am shure they have tons more but would not know where to start. I also believe I need to  know what bullets I will shoot. Bart's or Dan Opels etc... Preferably Dan's cuz he's close to my house. I know That when Clay Spencer chambered my barrel, he chambered the Freebore for a general bullet size. For you guys that go to all the big shoots what is the trend right now?? 269 neck ?

I have a friend  in lethbridge looking for a  used 6ppc benchrest rifle. Must be an accurate shooter with up to date components. Barrel wear does not matter.
