100 yrds LV and HV on Saturday , then we move it out to 200 yrds for the Sunday finish.
We are having the "cook your own steak" on Saturday evening, so if you are planning on attending please

If you have ever wondered what it takes to compete at short range Benchrest, come out this weekend and find out !!

ORSA - Ontario Rifle Shooters Association / Elmira Score Shoot Aug 27
« on: August 29, 2022, 11:11:42 AM »
Elmira Rod and Gun Club hosted ORSA's first score shoot of the season. We had 14 shooters in attendance, with some new faces who came out to test their skills against the tricky Elmira winds.

First and foremost we must thank all of the volunteers, and ORSA organization. Without them, this wouldn't be possible

Target Crew - Mark Holley, Steve Elgic, and Paul Connor
Scorer -  Alex Alves
BBQ and Kitchen -  Steve Hornsby, Alin Mihalcea
RSO - Frank Noonan, Bram Laing
ORSA Organization,  Brian Shoemaker, Kathy Brookes, Mark Brookes,
Elmira Rod and Gun Club, first class facility with first class people !!
A big thank you to all.

The next shoot will be a group shoot on Sept 24-25. If you are thinking on coming out, please contact Brian Shoemaker at brian.shoemaker@wightman.ca.  It will help us prepare for the steak dinner.

Should we be worried north of the border about primers shortages?

Centerfire Discussions / Application/Permit for Importation of Firearms
« on: December 27, 2019, 12:10:20 PM »
Happy Holidays all!!
I have a question about the Application/Permit of Temporary import of firearms.

In the list of ammunition do you list everything that you are taking by weights and qty's (number of bullets, weight of powder etc)
This is my first one so I don't want to miss anything.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Jeff.

What height of bases does it require? Do you have covers for it?

Thanks Phil. I guess I forgot to mention the important stuff. It is a 6mm PPC, Brass formed from Lapau, 205M primer, necked for .262 chamber, OCL 1.490"
Running N133 with 67 gr bullets, starting at touch and decreasing in length by .003" increments to -.012". Have read that with this powder  start at 28gr and work up to 29.3.

Centerfire Discussions / High pressure signs
« on: April 18, 2018, 05:23:30 PM »
Hello all. First post, so here we go.
Just purchased new to me, an older stolle panda action, left port, left eject BR rifle. Starting to work up some loads, and I am a little nervous about the difference in the max load ratings specified in the reloading manuals, compared to what I have read that is being used in competition. I understand that the benchrest gun is a different beast , and capable of higher pressures.
I want to get the most accuracy that I can get, but also want to know it will be safe to shoot.
What are the tell tale signs of high pressure, when working up the loads for a newbie?
Any help would be greatly and appreciated.
