BRSC - Benchrest Shooters Canada / Rosebud July 16/17 HV/Unl
« on: July 08, 2011, 09:47:21 AM »
Take note the Heavy Varmint and Unlimited (5-shot) match is coming up on July 16/17. We will run HV/Unl 100 on Saturday and Unl/HV 200 on Sunday.

We could use someone to help with the target running. The requirement is for 1 or 2 people. The nature of the work is hanging targets and retrieving targets from the 100 and 200 yards target frames between relays. We would need you from about 8am to about 4pm each day. We pay $100/day/person. Interested parties should PM me or e-mail rickpollock@shaw.ca

Thanks,

Rick

Per Jeff's instructions to post this on the forum, coles notes version:

Say all, the TEAM from CANADA is one member short at this time, as a member has just bowed out. Here is the good news:

1. We have sponsorship of about $600 beans per member for 2 teams of 4.

2. France will be the cheapest of all travel destinations (except USA in 2015)

3. France has the nicest facilities of any country bar none, even much better than USA.

4. you get to be famous (or infamous as the case may be)

Here is the bad news :  we need to know before months end at the very latest in order to do paperwork and the like.

Here is the ugly news (as in the good, the bad the ugly) you may have to put up with terrific people, enjoy the countryside, rub elbows at the luncheon table with the best in the world, drink beer on behalf of Canada, do something FEW EVER GET A CHANCE TO DO, and generally have a terrific time, and there is lots for the spouse to do,

THIS IS JUST LIKE GREAT DEALS ON SHORT NOTICE TRAVEL VACATIONS. and this offer is

ONLY AVAILABLE IN CANADA FOR A LIMITED TIME OFFER.

contact Jeff or any of the team members on the France 2011 mailing list for information details.

make some new friends, some will remain so for a lifetime.

PLEASE CONSIDER THIS AS IT IS REALLY A GREAT OPPORTUNITY.

SO PLEASE THINK ABOUT IT, AS IT WILL NOT BE OFFERED AGAIN IN YOUR LIFETIME.

BRSC - Benchrest Shooters Canada / Interim President and VP
« on: March 05, 2011, 09:10:49 PM »
Per Jeff's request a copy of his e-mail announcing the appointment of an interim President and VP, text below:

---------------

It is with pleasure that on behalf of Tony, Lyle and Jeff that we announce the following:

As of March 1st the new Bench rest Shooters of Canada President is Calvin Yanchycki.

As of March 1st the new Bench rest Shooters of Canada Vice President is Joe Mendham.

We are still looking for a new Treasurer. These most capable folks will take over until the annual meeting in early July in Manitoba at he Canadian shoot.

The last few years have been good, we increased our membership significantly, had annual meetings, (even if some attempted to play silly at the meetings), have actual provincial representation, money in the Bank, annual statements, and lots of motions decided upon by the masses,

We did not succeed in getting some Eastern (if I can use that term) clubs to join yet. I will be sending a couple of e-mails that the office of the President send regarding those discussion as they can be released now, and please  MOST OF THE PROVINCIAL REPS AND EXECUTIVE HAVE ALREADY SEEN THEM AND WERE ALWAYS IN THE LOOP. They were never forwarded on at the request of the folks asking questions,  but they may be shown now.

My only complaint is that if someone has a concern please talk to your provincial reps, then any of the Executive and lastly the President's position, (don't just send a stupid e-mail when you are new and start beaking off about how it is not a national organization)

As I have said at the last 3 annual meetings with the help of everyone we have grown. I do not take full responsibility for this but have played a small part yes and so have others.

The new President Calvin will send this on to those listed in the e-mail system for the BRSC and I have sent it to my e-mail list so others do not wonder what happened, NOTHING,

just the 3 Executives have done the work for 3 years, and perhaps a little longer and it is time for OTHERS TO SHOW LEADERSHIP AND HELP OUT.

Let us enjoy the year 2011 and make sure we all help out the new somewhat fearless leaders in making it FUN  to shoot BENCH REST FOR ALL.

On behalf of the previous Executive we wish the new guys all the best, and watch out we now have time to shoot and sit back and watch the matches from the sidelines which we will enjoy,

Help us welcome new shooters and ranges throughout western Canada and maybe beyond.

thanks again to all who helped along the way and thanks to those who did not for making our time enjoyable in a different sort of way.

and with that, it is out to shovel snow instead of the normal BS

thanks again

BSRC retired President  Jefferson

Centerfire Discussions / Benchrest 101 Clinic
« on: January 24, 2011, 07:54:38 PM »
The Rosebud Silhouette & Benchrest Club is pleased to announce it will hold a Benchrest 101 clinic on May 14, 2011 at the club. This clinic provides an introduction to Benchrest shooting. The focus will be on short range (100-200 yd) group shooting using center fire rifles. This clinic wll appeal to the accuracy enthusiast who is serious about entering the world of competitive group shooting.

If you are the type of shooter who takes great pains in loading your ammo, measuring your groups, recording and analyzing load data, and strives to find the next improvement in grouping capability we want you! If going to the next level means competition, then we want you! If you have heard about BR but didn’t know how to get involved, then we want you!

You will need to book the full day away. We will start at around 9:00 AM with the morning taken up in the clubhouse discussing the basics of Benchrest shooting, such as brass prep, reloading, cleaning, the match format, among many other topics. There will be a lunch break and then in the afternoon there will be an informal group shoot using competition rifles and rests, wind flags, and coaches to help get you going. Each student will shoot 3 targets, and they will be scored, with aggregates given, just like a regular match. We expect to be done at about 4:00 PM.

All you need to do is bring your hearing protection, lunch and refreshments. For the informal group shoot the rifle will be provided, along with all the other equipment necessary to shoot a match. A coach will be assigned.  There is no need to bring a rifle or sand bags etc.

Depending on availability of spare rifles, coaches etc we will likely limit this to about 10 shooters. I would recommend people sign up early.

Feel free to call or e-mail if you have any questions.

OK my fellow fashionistas have I got a deal for you! In order to raise a bit of dough for the World team, and also raise the profile of our game in Canada I had some T-Shirts made with the approval of the Captain of the Canadian Team (Jeff).

The shirts have the Benchrest.ca logo on front of shirt, and an oops target with the phrase on back of T-shirt. They are a Gilden T-Shirt, one of the heavier weight fabrics, 100% pre-shrunk cotton, they are as high if not higher quality than you usually see for this sort of thing. There are 50 shirts available. I have 20 Large, 20 XLarge, and 10 XXLarge.

Pricing as follows:
$15 to cover cost of T-shirt
$5 to cover mailing
$5 Donation to World Team
Total is $25 each
e-mail me at rickpollock@shaw.ca to place an order.

Thanks!

After wanting one of these for years, decided to jump into the fray. Looking forward to getting it up and running. It is a Jay Young rail. I will probably use an action off one of my LV rifles and screw it on when I want to shoot the rail.

As far as anniversaries go it isn't much, but I am happy to report the benchrestforum.ca has made it to its first anniversary! As far as the goal of spreading the word about Benchrest in Canada, I think we are doing quite well. When I started this I didn't think we would even get 50 members! Well over 100 members now. All I can say is thanks to everyone for dropping in, and keeping this going.
