The government wants to hear a diversity of views on how to reduce violent crime in Canada and whether a BAN ON HANDGUNS AND ASSAULT WEAPONS would be the best way to address the problem. Public consultation is open until November 10.
Police forces are implying that illegal 'illicit' firearms are coming from legal owners through theft or sales, hence the need to ban legal ownership of firearms in Canada.

Peter Smith just sent in his results from last weekend at the WWCCA Fall Classic and his results are simply remarkable:

1st 100 HV with a .1046" Aggregate! Almost a zero agg! Possible NBRSA World Record
1st 200 HV with a .1824" Aggregate!
1st HV Grand Aggregate with a .1436". Another possible NBRSA record as well!
1st LV 100 with a .1542" Aggregate
5th in LV 200 with a .2253" Aggregate
3rd in HV Grand with a .1898" Grand Aggregate
1st in the 2-Gun with a .1666" Grand Aggregate.

Kudos to Peter! Well done!

Lots of shooters have been turning in great results with HWP barrels, here are some of the higher finishes I am aware of:

At the World Championships in New Zealand all of Canada 1 team used HWP barrels and finished 5th overall in the World in the 2-Gun Championship. Hugh Williamson was 6th in the World in the individual results.

Peter Smith was 2nd in the HV 100 at the IBS National Championships with a .1776" Aggregate

Rob MacLennan was 3rd in the HV 200 at the NBRSA National Championship with a .1939" Aggregate

Rick Pollock was 2nd in the Sporter 100 at the NBRSA National Championships with a .1670" Aggregate.

Hugh Williamson was 1st in the HV Grand Aggegate at the NBRSA National Championships with a .1798" Grand Aggregate. Earning 2 Hall of Fame Points for this!

Hugh Williamson was 2nd in the 3-Gun at the NBRSA Nationals with a .2073" Aggregate, missing first place in the 3 Gun by only .007"!

Hugh Williamson was 1st in the HV 100 at the IBS Nationals with .1732" Aggregate. Earning a Hall of Fame Point for this.

Hugh Williamson, Rob Seemann, and Rick Pollock took the top 3 places at the BRSC National Championships this year using HWP barrels.

Vic Swindlehurst passed away a few years ago. He made somewhere around 100+ actions. They are a solid action to build BR rifles on, although you don't see as many around anymore. There was a steel version, and an aluminum and steel version same idea as a Panda. Action alone will be +/- $1000 CDN.

Couple more photos.

George Carter, Bill MItchell and Hugh Williamson with their winnings.

Then a photo of a very foggy range that caused a significant delay and we had the finish the afternoon aggregate the following morning.

Back home! A long drive but well worth it. Canadians had a tremendous showing. Hugh Williamson won the HV Grand and won 2 Hall of Fame points for those efforts and was second in the 3-Gun. Bill Mitchel had a great shoot winning the HV 200 and claiming a Hall of Fame point as well.

Full results here:

Many personal bests were set, and two possible BRSC International records will be sent to the record committee.

Sorry I didn't get a lot of pictures. Below is Dean Weger at the bench, and then Wayne Campbell and Hugh Williamson who finished 1,2 in the 3-Gun.

Now for some sleep....

Here are the results post the NBRSA Nationals in Holton, Michigan. 20 Canadians were at this match working very hard to accumulate enough points to qualify for the Canadian World Team in 2019. It was a hard fought contest and I am very proud of the efforts of all our shooters. Canadians will have 3 very formidable teams in Calgary.  I expect this will be the final standings, and letters of invitation to join the World Team will be sent out to the top 12 shooters.

Equipment list attached

Attached is the latest results post the match at Rosebud this past weekend.

Last shoot of 2018 at Rosebud is in the bag. Bit of a cool weekend with the morning temperature on the first day at -1C! It did eventually struggle all the way to 13C. None the less a good weekend. Thanks to all our helpers this season, and of course thanks tot he Rosebud Club for the terrific facilities. Look forward to seeing everyone next year.

Results attached.

Reminder to everyone that Rosebud will be hosting their last shoot of the 2018 season, the Alberta Provincials on September 1/2. This will be the conventional format of a LV and HV shoot at 100 yards on Saturday, and a HV then LV shoot at 200 yards on the Sunday.

The range will open for practice on the Friday, and camping is available with prior notice.

Interested shooters should contact me at as we always like to get an idea of attendance when organizing helpers.
