Tony, on behalf of the coaches thanks for making the range available and rounding up the students. Our guys had a great time helping the newcomers down the slippery slope.

Thanks Mark. I know these are a pain to type up, but always well received by the inquiring minds!

NBRSA published the equipment list for the 2023 Cactus Classic. There are 2 HWP barrels in the HV Grand top 10, and 3 HWP barrels in the LV Grand. Note Steve Horsley who has recently moved to Alberta and attended his first Cactus Classic and managed a top 10 finish in a Grand Agg. Well done Steve!

Thanks to the Mission & District Rod & Gun Club for hosting the Spring Tuneup match this weekend. Special thanks go the the helpers and volunteers that make it happen, such as Mark Dumont, Joe Mendham, Allan Mantler, among others. A notable performance by Mark Dumont was turned in, whereby he was the overall winner of the match this weekend. Mark is a member of the Mission Club and will be competing in France this September as part of Team Canada. I too would like to note how great it was to see Nobby Uno, as Nobby built my first BR rifle probably 30 years ago!

L-R: Tyler Edmunds, Nobby Uno, Brent Meyer, Vic Edmunds, Don Ells, Allan Mantler, Mark Dumont, Rick Pollock, Art Harder, Tony Jansma

The World Benchrest Team wishes to recognize the generous support offered by The Mission & District Rod & Gun Club through a cash donation to help offset the costs of attending this event in France in late September of this year. To send 12 shooters and all their gear to Europe is no small undertaking and without the support of sponsors it would be questionable if we could send even a team. The attached picture is of the 6 shooters on the World  Team who attended this most recent shoot in Mission along with MDRGC President -Tex.

L-R Allan Mantler (MDRGC member), Mark Dumont (MDRGC Member and match winner), Tyler Edmunds, Tex, Doug Thompson, Vic Edmunds, Rick Pollock. We couldn't be prouder of these guys!

Team Canada is pleased to announce two additional sponsors of the Team Canada effort to reach the podium in France:

Mission & District Rod & Gun Club https://missionrodandgun.com/
March Scopes Canada - The Canadian Distributor for March Scopes https://marchscopes.ca/

This means a lot to the team and we are grateful for all the support we have received.

Team Canada has garnered a number of Sponsorships to assist with the costs of attending this event, for that I expressly want to thank the following entities:

Alberta Provincial Rifle Association https://www.albertarifle.com/
Rosebud Silhouette & Benchrest Club https://rosebudsilhouetteandbenchrestclub.wildapricot.org/
Bench Rest Shooters Canada https://benchrestforum.ca/index.php?board=2.0
Plenty O Patches https://www.plentyopatches.com/
Hugh Williamson Precision https://www.hwprecision.ca/
Nomad Aviation https://www.nomad-aviation.com/
Pollock Aviation  https://pollockaviation.com/
Stinger Ballistics https://stingerballistics.com/
Jiffy Lube https://www.jiffylube.ca/
Kenora - Lake of the Woods Gun Club https://lwgc.ca/
Selkirk Game & Fish https://www.selkirkgameandfish.ca/

All in, the cost for Team Canada to attend this event is in the neighbourhood of $70,000.  Once we factor in flights, hotels, entry fees, bus transportation, etc for 12 shooters, it adds up very quickly.

If any company or individual has an interest in helping out financially, the team members would really appreciate it! Interested parties should contact me at rickpollock@shaw.ca

Happy to report that Hugh Williamson and I had a great result at the Cactus Classic shooting HWP Barrels.

Hugh won the LV 100 and I won the LV 200. In the 2-Gun Hugh was 5th and I was 4th.

Spot the two Canadians in the attached photo!

Thanks for posting and welcome to the slippery slope! A name would be good here, if you don't mind posting it. I am sure everyone is wondering who the new guy in Selkirk is!

We are running BR101 in Lethbridge and Rocky Mountain House this year. In years past we have run it in Calgary and Medicine Hat as well. It has been a great format for getting shooters introduced to BR.

The BR community is small and everyone knows everyone, hence the high level of trust. It was a good choice to have Mike Bryant build you a rifle as he is a terrific gunsmith and a super nice guy. Glad you found Calvin, a mentor will save you years on the learning curve, and thousands of misspent dollars.

There will be about 12 of us from out West invade Selkirk for the Nationals, I look forward to meeting you as I am sure the rest of the mob does as well.

Rick Pollock

I can see this post. The site has a bug where it doesn't like " or ' in the posts and seems to forget everything after those characters. There will be an upgrade in the coming week or so, and hopefully that bug goes away at that time.

I don't have paper copies, but I have digital copies. They are large files. I will see if I can get them in to a dropbox and send you a link.

Anybody else that wants a link to the dropbox can email me: rickpollock@shaw.ca

BRSC - Benchrest Shooters Canada / Re: BRSC Canadian Benchrest Records
« on: January 26, 2023, 09:39:39 PM »
As far as equipment specific to each record we don't really maintain that information, although with a bit of digging it may be available. Pre internet days equipment lists were published in the BRSC newsletter that was mailed to members. Post internet days the equipment list was published online.

For the group shooting records, the single target records are noted in the measured group size on each target. The aggregate records are noted as an average of the 5 target's measurement in moa. Not a "true" moa since it is just divided by 2 for 200 yard aggregates, and divided by 3 for 300 yard aggregates. This sport is pre digital era and for simplicity they did not use the true moa (1.047" at 100 yards) to calculate scores. It was all calculated by hand back in the day.

Note any potential record targets are sent to a 3 person record committee who average their 3 measurements to give a final measurement for consideration against the existing record.

Hope that helps.
