Centerfire Discussions / Digital calipers
« on: February 15, 2010, 03:47:54 PM »
I know that most should have a pair of good calipers but I just ordered a pair of Mitutoyo 6" calipers from

http://www.msi-viking.com/detail.asp?masterid=500-196-20

the price is REAL GOOD as well.

Acklands Grainger sells them for $246.46 Canadian on there website......  Woahhhhhhhh..... what a price difference even with the exchange.

Hell maybe they are Chinese clones???????????  By looking at the pics from both websites they look like the same items.

Here is more info on the calipers.  http://www.mitutoyo.ca/files/2009%20-%20d%20section_1.pdf

Off Topic / Snow
« on: February 13, 2010, 08:05:16 AM »
Okay I hear and see there is a lack of snow in Vancouver.  This is the Winter Olympics and it is raining ??? ???

We should have hosted them hear with all the snow and cold.  We may not have Whistler or Cypress mtn, but we have Ski Valley in Minnedosa and Assessippi Ski resort that we could raise to the heights of whistler with all the snow we have........

2-4 centimeters, MY A++.

Where did all this white stuff come from last nite ??? ???

Centerfire Discussions / Graham Flags your next purchase
« on: February 03, 2010, 07:59:19 AM »
Okay shooters, if you were to buy Graham flags would you go with the original or would you buy the new flat top flags?

My home made Graham immitations work very well but I was thinking I should get a set of real flags.  I figured I should standardize my flag collection in case a bench sharing scenario is the order of the day.

BRSC - Benchrest Shooters Canada / Which one? BRSC Screamer Patch orDecal
« on: January 13, 2010, 05:23:42 PM »
I am looking for opinions on this.

If you shot a screamer group and had the chance of a Patch/Crest to sew on a jacket or a decal to stick to your loading box for the world to see which would you prefer?

Myself it would be a decal.  Any patches I ever recieve go into a box to never see the light of day.  With a decal one could use a permanent Sharpie and mark the group size and the date on it and still look good.

Patch the ink would bleed if you tried to do it.  A patch will definately last longer than a decal possibly but why would one want it to last forever?  When the decal gets worn or looking bad it will give you more incentive to try harder to get a new one.

BRSC - Benchrest Shooters Canada / BRSC fundraiser ideas
« on: January 10, 2010, 12:13:40 PM »
Okay I am not sure if I should be doing this here but I think we need to kick some tires.

Okay a lot of you are aware of the 2010 National Match decal I have designed for the Canadian Nationals at Rosebud.  I hope to see this decal carry forward from year to year as my contribution.  They will be done differently each year.  I am going to fund that decal myself this year as my donation to the Match.  Cost to me is minimal.  Those in the Executive that I have discussed this were in favor of the idea.  We need to start to move forward to try and get this sport known in Canada.

I am also in the process of finalizing a design for which I hope to be an Official BRSC Sceamer decal or patch.  When I have that design completed it will be shared with the BRSC Executive and the few who I contacted for there input of ideas.  So far I have heard good things about this idea.

Getting to business I feel we need to look at some ideas for fundraising to help assist with some of the expenses going to be incurred this year with the BRSC.  In doing so we will also spread awareness to our sport by the sale of tickets.  I feel we can successfully carry out this endeaveor with the assistance of our other Canadian forum.  The ticket sales I feel can be done via internet and e-mail.  I would be willing to look after setting up the raffle license if required and sending out receipts/tkt stub via e-mail.

The thoughts now turn to what to raffle off.  I have been thinking of a SEB rest.  Something that all shooters would like to have regardless of there shooting discipline.  Thoughts or ideas.

I am not saying we have to make a fortune but if we can make enough to assist with some of the expenses would be great.

BR Equipment + Components / Looking for
« on: December 25, 2009, 08:02:32 AM »
Does any of you shoooters who shoot with a SEB know if anyone makes the replacement screws for the top with the springs?  Does Seb have them or make them?  I NEVER have luck trying to contact Ernie Bishop.

I know where I can get a couple but I need 2 more.  If that is the case I should just get a set of 4 if I can.

In saying that I would like to remind everyone to think about renewing there memberships for the next year or 2 years if you desire.  If memory serves me right the fees are 25.00 for 1 year and 45.00 for 2 year memberships.

Centerfire Discussions / Benchrest Table/Rest Equipment
« on: December 22, 2009, 07:53:00 PM »
Some of the common equipment found used by shooters at the bench.

Clockwise from left:  towel, Edgewood snake bag(used to keep ejected brass on table), Sand bags(used to support rist and forearm in trigger area), Gel elbow pad, timer, rear bag, rear bag stabilizer donut.  In the middle are superfeet.

Front rest.  This version of front rest is a SEB Coaxial front rest with shell loading block.  The loading block puts the ammo near the height of the loading port.  The ammo block aids the shooter in loading so as to not search for the next round when trying to keep your eyes on your flags.  It also aids the shooters who are quick shooters in getting reloaded at a quicker rate.

Centerfire Discussions / Thanks Tony....

Well I was always wondering what I could use as something to distinguish me from the others in Benchrest in Canada.  You gave it to me when you started the thread about me being the WASP specialist.

I was going to use smiley faces.  No matter how bad you shoot on Saturday you can go to bed and wakeup Sunday AM with a smile, put on your smiley pyjamas, and start a new day that can HOPEFULLY not get any worse than the day before.

That was lame.

Now the Wasp on the other hand, I like it.

Thanks man.
