I still can't get the taste of a combination of Brute 33 and Muskol out of my mouth.

The Blended powder I shot didn't cause any eratic shots that I recall. I shot it thru the chronograph and didn't see any wild velocity swings. The risk of blending powder in my mind is incomplete mix or separation of the two powders. I have shot 2or 3 lbs of the new xbr 8208 and didn't find it better than Benchmark.

I don't know what I shot at the Cactus. I didn't think it was a blend. On Br Central Lester had advertised some GI surplus powder he was selling. When I got to Pheonix. Doug asked if I wanted to try it instead of 133 I said ok.
I think blending powder is only if you can't get the burn rate you want. I blended BenchMark too slow and H322 too fast (in my opinion) to try to get a compromise. I believe the new xbr8208 was close to what I mixed somewhere between Bmark and H322
I mixed small batches in a plastic container and strapped it to a vibrating tumbler over night. The important thing is to choose powders that are the same kernel size so there is no separation of the powders during transport. Also being careful on the load workup to determine the new pressure curve and velocity spread.

This was my 4th Cactus and the first one with decent weather. In fact it was perfect. 80s all three days. Winds were light for Pheonix.
I flew in Friday am and out Sunday pm. Doug had bought some of the pulldown powder Bruno's was selling so we all shot it. It was dirty stuff but shot fine. Faster than 133, I shot 28.3gr. 29gr was way too hot. No magic powder.
Doug, Max and I all shot the on the same bench and used Doug's equiptment. I ended up shooting the 3lug as a right right and squeezed the rear bag as I had trouble with Doug's front rest.
It was good to catch up with everyone after the winter off. I have grown to like shooting at Pheonix despite the weather in the past. Anyone thinking about it should give it a try. NBRSA nats will be there in 2012.

Thanks for the time and effort you have put in to this site as well as at Rosebud. It is nice to have a Canadian site for BR. I believe that it will expand the sport in this country.

I would agree with Dan. Both glue in and proper pillar bedding work well. Both have won their share of trophies.

What action is on your rail?

The rail you saw was Eric Stanton's. He has been using the rubber coating and some weight at the muzzle for a while. I was thinking along the lines of Garry O'Cock's rail set up. Delrin bushing fit to the block.

I will be putting together another Bat 3Lug this winter. Considering a wood stock. The railgun needs a new barrel and I think I need to look into isolating the barrel from the block to dampen vibrations.

Someone has to teach me how to shoot that range. Wardlow is always off buying something and I'm sure George and Vera think I can't be taught.  ;)

Super shoot most likely and I have hopes for the East West in June. It will be impossible for you to accommodate everyone so all you need do is pic a date/s and "If you build it they will come."

If you look at the number of hopefuls in the USA there is competition for the 12 positions. In Canada more often than not there are more postions on the Canadian team than there is real interest. In South Africa Canada could have had Three four person teams but had only one team and an alternate. Therefore a "selection process" can be as simple as who wants to go and do you have a gun? This may change if there becomes more serious interest in representing the country.

The David and Goliath thing is only in ones mind. If everyone on a team does there personal best any team of big name shooters can be beat. Australia and Italy can attest to that from WBC in 2009.

I have not seen a written selection criteria for Canada although one may exist. It is difficult to shoot head to head in Canada with such great distance and so few shooters. I think every other country other than USA has similar problems with team selection.

Good for you. I will try to attend which ever weeked that works out. Another range to shoot will be great.

Good thinking Tony

I forgot the BRSC is set up in AB. An out of province non profit group wanting a gameing license may be more trouble. I hope not.

I would agree that I would be more likely to put the decal on a loading box than a patch on clothing. But either way works. 100 decals could last a very long time at the rate screamers have been going.

My understanding of a non profit group (BRSC) holding any sort of raffle in Alberta the group needs a gaming license. This is why most of the prizes are given away by draw rather than auctioned or raffled with proceeds to the group. A gameing license for an adult, sporting nonprofit group is very difficult to obtain in this province. This may be different from one province to another. This is if you want to do it legally. My wife went thru all of this for funraising for her Karate club. She says never again as the Gov't can be a pain.

I had a Larson Cedar carbon fiber laminate with a Panda action. I loved the stock but didn't care for the Panda action. I sold the rifle and would consider another Larson stock if I could find one for a Bat action.
