« on: August 13, 2020, 04:14:01 PM »
AUGUST 22/23 Weekend Match

AFRA Members and Welcomed Guests

Alberta Fullbore Rifle Association will host the match on the August 22 and 23 weekend.  Guests are welcome at our Homestead Range Facility.

To make sure we comply with all the different government regulations, this will be our format for the remainder of 2020 regular club matches - only the dates will be changed.

NOTE: Provincial Championships will have a different format and be 3 days of shooting. Provincials match is September 11,12,13.   Expect a registration email for the Provincials match BEFORE the August 22,23 match as we have to let travelling shooters know soon and our members will have priority for the limited spots.

REGISTRATION DEADLINE FOR PROVINCIALS WILL BE EARLIER THAN NORMAL SO WE CAN ORGANIZE A LARGER GROUP.  WATCH FOR A MEMBER EMAIL WITHIN THE WEEK.

Back to the August 22/23 match.

Until the Covid 19 situation is over, ALL MATCHES will be by preregistration only by sending a separate email to afratargetshooters@gmail.com with your name in the subject line and class and days shooting in the body of the email.  If there are any special requests also state those (e.g. travelling together, families, etc.).  We will do our best to accommodate but cannot guarantee.  If you are a member and not coming, no need to email.  50 person limit allowed into the facility so only that number will be allowed.  Anyone applying after the limit is reached will not be accepted.  Please confirm class (F-0, TR, F-TR) and that you are competing both days on your registration email.

Members are encouraged to share this email/information with potential guests but priority for maximum limit of 50 will be reserved for annual AFRA Members.

During this Covid 19 time, all matches will be a combination of long range at 800 and 900 metres only.  Expect Saturdays to be 4 times with 2+15 at 800m and Sundays to be 3 times 2+15 at 900m.  Final format to be determined after registration is closed and the club knows how many shooters are there.  Expect a minimum of 121 rounds but if the electronic targets have issues, extra sighters might be allowed.  After registration is closed, depending upon the number of registered competitors, the Match Committee MAY decide to add an additional string of 2+15 on either or both days.  Pre-Registration by email closes 8:00 pm Wednesday August 19.  No exceptions going forward.  You will receive an email confirming we have your application.

Thursday August 20 you will be advised of squadding. Final course of fire will be in that email.

Saturday and Sunday onsite arrival closes at 8:30 am each day of competitions.    Most people have been coming early and once all registered people are there, we will start earlier if possible.  Anyone arriving later than the 8:30 am Safety Meeting will not be allowed to compete.

Electronic targets are being used.  A Wi-Fi compatible tablet or laptop is required.  Phones can work but give less than acceptable performance without many changes to settings that hold up the matches.

2 meter distancing from everyone including family is mandatory at all matches.  Anyone not following this rule will be asked to leave the facility.

Cost:  for AFRA members without an annual shoot card, it will be $40 for the weekend.  For non-AFRA members the cost is $60 for the weekend.  For shooters who do not belong to APRA, SPRA, BCPRA there will be an additional $10 insurance cost.

All other questions can be asked via email to afratargetshooters@gmail.com.

For all, weather can be unpredictable in the eastern slope area.  If the club determines weather cancellation then all will be advised on the Thursday evening prior via email.  If you do not receive an email by 9:00 pm on the Thursday, the match will proceed.

Best Regards,

AFRA Match Committee
