AFRA Members and Welcomed Guests

Alberta Fullbore Rifle Association will host the Provincial Championships.  Guests are welcome at our Homestead Range Facility.

REGISTRATION DEADLINE FOR PROVINCIALS WILL BE SEPTEMBER 2.  DETAILS ARE IN ITEM 1 AND 3.  COURSE OF FIRE IN ITEM 3 IS THE HIGHEST POSSIBLE ROUND COUNT FOR EXPECTED NUMBER OF COMPETITORS.  IF REGISTRATION IS HIGHER, COURSE OF FIRE WILL CHANGE.  SEPTEMBER 5 FINAL COURSE OF FIRE WILL BE ADVISED.

1.   Until the Covid 19 situation is over, ALL MATCHES will be by preregistration only by sending a separate email to afratargetshooters@gmail.com with your name in the subject line and class and days shooting in the body of the email.  If there are any special requests also state those (e.g. travelling together, families, etc.).  We will do our best to accommodate but cannot guarantee.  If you are a member and not coming, no need to email.  There is a 50 person limit allowed into the facility so only that number of registered shooters and observers will be allowed.  Anyone applying after the limit is reached will not be accepted.  Please confirm class (F-0, TR, F-TR) and days that you are competing.

2.   Members are encouraged to share this email/information with potential guests but we have the restriction of a maximum limit of 50 TOTAL people on the facility including observers/non-shooters.  If you are planning on bringing a non-shooter observer, you must indicate on your application so we can track head count.  If you show up with extra people that put us over the limit you will turned away.

3.   During this Covid 19 time, all matches will be fired with painted lines, 2 metres apart, clearly marked.  Friday will be 2+15 at 400, 600, & 900m for Lt. Governor.  Saturday is planned to be 2+15 2 x each at  400, and then 500 and 600 metres.  Sunday is planned 2+15 for 2 x each at 800 and 2 x at 900. That would make 187 plus 3 fouling shots.  With electronics, we recommend extra in case there is a malfunction with the targets.  IF we have too many shooters and need to have 3 relays, Saturday and Sunday could go to 2+10 at each distance.  The 2 meter spacing puts a very limited number of firing points on each berm.  Pre-registration by email closes 8:00 pm Wednesday September 2nd.  No exceptions.

4.   You will receive a confirmation email indicating we have your application.  On Thursday, September 3 you will receive an email with a list of registered shooters.  On Saturday, September 5 you will be advised of squadding with priority going to shooters registered for all 3 days, 2 day next, and 1 day shooters being fitted in as we can.   Final course of fire will be in that email after we know the number of shooters.  Expected round count will also be confirmed or revised in that email.

5.   Onsite arrival closes at 8:30 am each day of competitions.    Most people have been coming early and once all registered people are there, we will start earlier if possible.  Anyone arriving later than the 8:30 am Safety Meeting will not be allowed to compete.

6.   Electronic targets are being used.  A Wi-Fi compatible tablet or laptop is required.  Phones can work but give less than acceptable performance without many changes to settings that hold up the matches.

7.   2 meter distancing from everyone including family is mandatory at all matches.  Anyone not following this rule will be asked to leave the facility.

8.   Cost:  for AFRA members without an annual shoot card, it will be $40 for the weekend.  For non-AFRA members the cost is $60 for the weekend.  For shooters who do not belong to APRA, SPRA, BCPRA there will be an additional $10 insurance cost.  Exact cash or cheque only.  No change provided.  No electronic payment options.

9.   All other questions can be asked via email to afratargetshooters@gmail.com.

10.   For all, weather can be unpredictable in the eastern slopes area.  If the club determines weather cancellation then all will be advised on the Thursday evening prior via email.  If you do not receive an email by 9:00 pm on the Wednesday Sept 9th, the match will proceed.

Best Regards,
AFRA Match Committee
