NBRSA Nats - Kansas City 2010
« on: September 18, 2010, 08:41:02 PM »
2500 kms later and I am here!

Got here at noon and went straight to the range. jeff, Calvin, Rob were here already.

Insane heat and humidity. Everything and everyone was sweating with humidity. Over 90F and close to 80-90% humidity.

Looks to be about 160 registered.

Boyers. Murdica. Ratigan. Buckys. etc etc. All the heavy hitters.

More practice tomorrow, then the fun begins on Monday.

Pictures to follow tomorrow.

Well another hot day.  A lot going on and good times had.

Just a run down on the Unlimited top 5.....

1st Tony Boyer.....more hall of fame points
2nd Harley Baker
3rd Bill Symons
4th Ed Adams
5th Jack Neary another Hall of Famer

Robert finished 25 out of around 100 shooters +or-

That is all I was told to say................. about the other Cdn Shooters........

Small 10 shoot grp was a .127.  The conditions are real tough the wind was blowing similar to Regina.  And there were lots of small groups shot in those tough conditions.  I shot some video but may not be able to get it up for a few days.

Today in the UL 200

1st Charles Huckeba
2nd Mike Conry
3rd Tony Boyer
4th Andy Shifflett
5th Jay Gore

UL Grand

1st Tony Boyer
2nd Charles Huckeba
3rd Mike Conry
4th Larry Costa
5th Andy Shifflett

Another 3 HOF points for Tony between yesterday win and today Grand in UL.

Rob finished 27th in the UL 200 and 26th in the UL Grand

Vera Carter shot today in the UL 200 and placed 41st.

Cannot remember how many actually shooting in the UL.  I shot for practice today and it was hell.  Winds were similar to Regina if not stronger.  They are forcasting wind all week.  Going to make for some interesting shooting starting tommorrow in the bag guns at 100.  I never thought we would see wind like this but we have.  LOTS of 1" groups shot with the rails today.  Regardless of the wind a great shoot.

Oh Rick shot again and moved up the ladder from his placing yesterday.  He was 94th today in the 200.

Later,
Calvin

I am shooting a 6PPC, inability to stick a 10 rd group together is the main problem.

Thursday was HV 100 only, with the NBRSA members meeting and a BBQ in the afternoon.

It was so windy even the Midland shooters were finding it rough...

1st. Jack Neary .2196
2nd. Don Creach .2272
3rd. Jay Gore .2300

Big day for Calvin as he figured the range out the best amongst the Canucks

1500 kms and 14.5 hours later I am home.  Left the motel at 7 AM and walked in my door at 9:30 PM.

It was the shoot to remember for me, a real eye opener.  This shoot despite the heavy wind, is the place to test yourself against the best shooters in the World.  The guys and gals shooting at the Nationals are there for a reason. To shoot well and to try and win aggs to gain Hall of Fame Points.  There is a social aspect as well but from what I hear not that like the SS.

Guys, those who have never travelled to the US for a shoot I urge you to try your best to make it happen.  There is an aspect to the game down south that we never see hear.

Unfortunately I never took as many pictures as I wanted but Rick has more and plenty of video.  When he gets home and puts out his fires we should be able to see some of the video later on.

I am very impressed with the results that the Canadians were able to achieve this year.
In the short time that I have followed or attended the Nationals, this is the best overall
placement for Canada that I can recall.
Thanks again for the updates throughout the week, many of us truly appreciate the effort.
Hope everyone had an uneventful trip home, and am looking forward to talking with you about
the event.
Once again well done all.

Calvin, when you go to one of the major matches, it sure is fun, but also humbling when you see some incredible groups shot in tough conditions time after time. The biggest thing is to enjoy what you are doing, their will be times when things do not always go well but if you truly enjoy the sport it will keep you going till your moment to shine happens.
The Super Shoot has to be the most fun even though it is the largest. It is well run and their are so many different characters there that it will be hard not to find some new friends. Just being at the famous Kelbly range and seeing where and how they make actions is worth the trip, let alone shooting.
