2012 BRSC Canadian Nationals - June 30/July 1
« on: June 15, 2012, 06:53:09 PM »
Just a reminder that 2 weeks from tommorrow is the Nationals at Rosebud Silhouette and Benchrest Club.

Friday will be the AGM Meeting hopefully starting at 5PM.  I want to keep it short and sweet.  The agenda has been e-mailed out to almost all paid up BRSC members.  If you have not recieved it and you are interested please e-mail your request before Tuesday.  After that day I will not be available as I will be leaving for Montana on my way to Calgary for the Nationals.

I need to go as light as possible so I will not have my PC or printed copies for everyone.  If you can and you are attending print a copy off for yourself to bring along.  The key things I want to get hashed out and finalized for a general membership vote is the Rules document and the records procedure.  I will also be looking for a volunter along with our secretary to go over the converted BRSC Bylaws.  I converted them to word and it is just to proof read the document to make sure nothing was missed.

Any questions get in touch with me ASAP.

Less than 2 weeks to go! A few notes for competitors:

This is a BRSC registered match. You will need a membership in the BRSC, we will have these available at the match, $25.

Match fees are $15 for each aggregate, which works out to $60 for the weekend.

LV100 and HV200 on Saturday, we will rotate benches at the end of Saturday, then shoot HV200 and LV200 on Sunday. First shots at 9:00, break for lunch around 12:00 - 1:00, and hope to be done at about 5:00.

Highly recommend you bring a pop up shelter if you have one, and a folding table. We are expecting 20-25 competitors and we will not be able to accommodate everyone in the clubhouse.

There is dry camping at the range.

Competitors are welcome to show up a day or two early to camp and get some practice in. Anyone looking to do this should contact me in advance for a letter authorizing them to be on the range in advance of the match.

There will be a BBQ on the Saturday night after the matches. It is bring your own steak, side dishes and salads will be provided.

Map to the club is here:

Closest hotels are in Cochrane, Alberta - about a 30 min drive from the range:

Please take note Ted Gaillard has graciously offered a $400 gift certificate for a barrel, to be awarded in a random draw after the BBQ on Saturday night. Ted has been a long time supporter of the BRSC Nationals, and we thank him for his commitment and support of BR in Canada!

Congratulations to Chris Ross, Winner of the 2-Gun! Chris travelled from the USA to show us all how to shoot. Well done Chris.

This year the Prairie Provincial Cup went to Saskatchewan! Team comprised of Ted Gaillard, James Garchinski and Wayne Miller!

Record turnout, and even the weather cooperated! More to follow once I get some pictures and the equipment list going.

Suffice to say we had a great time. Thanks to Noelette for running targets all weekend and to Marty for doing the scoring. They did a great job.

Thanks to Ted Gaillard for the donation of a barrel, and to Korth - Tony Gauthier, for the donation of the knives.

Lastly thanks to everyone who helped host the BBQ on Saturday!

It was great to see so many who travelled to the event.
As always the supper on Saturday was excellent and a fun time.

I also  would like to say thanks as well to all the Alberta members who put there time and effort into making this shoot a success.  The weather cooperated with no rain, but the range was tricky as usual.  To the ladies thanks for the wonderful meal and Robert for the GREAT steak.

We also need to thank Chris Ross from Idaho and Doug Schwind from Washington for making the trip up from the US and hopefully opening up the border to more US shooters making the trip to Canada.  It is not so bad is it guys to get across the border?????

All in all I feel a great time was had by all.

I am looking forward to the 2013 BRSC Canadian Nationals in Selkirk, MB.

All I can say is if you want to challenge yourself shooting in TOUGH conditions, Rosebud is one of the places.

The calm before the storm.

Rosebuds version of Kelby's.  Flags at 100 yard line.

Backside of the 100 yard berm.

Short flags near and TALL flags further away.

Bob, it will be in Selkirk barring any unforseen circumstances.  It will be the July long weekend of 2013 if I have any say.

Should be June 29-30, with July 1st on Monday.
