I was away for the match, so commentary is a little thin!

Thanks to Gord for handling the scoring, I just made it a little prettier!

Next match is September 27, hope to see a good turnout.

Club Events / Mission - October 2025 Benchrest Group & Score at 300
« on: October 06, 2025, 05:25:14 PM »
This month, we held our combined Group and Score 300 yard match.  In this format, we hang both a Group and a 200 yard Score target at 300 yards.  You have 14 minutes to complete both targets, and we repeat the process 5 times for the complete match.

Because this shoot combines Group and Score, scoring is done on the basis of points.  You get one point for every competitor you beat in each match.

A good turnout of 9 shooters got beautiful fall weather and very mild conditions, although, as usual, conditions started to pick up as the morning went on.  We started at 8 degrees while we finished at close to 20.

Congrats to Milan who had the smallest agg in the Group competition - Good shooting in interesting conditions!

Thanks to Art who called the match, Joe who collected our money and to Pete, Bob and Art who wrangled the targets at 300 yards.  Thanks again to Art who scored the Score targets.

Our next match is November 2nd, and we'll be back to shooting Group at 100 and 200 yards.

Here are the results:

Club Events / Mission - September 2025 Benchrest Score Shoot
« on: September 08, 2025, 12:33:12 PM »
Nine shooters gathered to shoot a Score match as we usually do in the fall.  Conditions were fairly mild under cloudy skies and haze, although there were a few wind surprises.

Results were very close, with an interesting tie for the 200 yard agg.  Both Pete and Don shot identical scores for the three papers, so it was necessary to go to the first bullseye on the first paper where Don prevailed with a 21 while Pete scored a 20.  Either way, a fine job of shooting on both their parts.

Thanks to Art who called the match and did the scoring and to Pete, Don and Vlad who ran the targets.  Thanks also to all the others who participated.

Next match is October 5, where we'll shoot Group and Score at 300 yards, our own version of the Tackdriver match.

14 shooters showed up to compete in very mild conditions on a beautiful summer day.

We welcomed Gurnoor Chahal, shooting Sporter.

Don took Benchrest, Derreck took Custom (in the Peters battle) and Paul took Sporter.

Once again, more than half the Benchrest shooters averaged more than 2000 per target.  Practice makes perfect!

Thanks to Paul for organizing the match, to Shawn, Mike and Art for scoring and to Tim for organizing the scored targets.

Next match is September 27, hope to see a good turnout!

Interesting reading as always.

Well, another Nationals is in the record books...

Weather was fair with moderate winds for the first day, but clouded over with lighter winds on the second.  The Mission terrain always poses its share of challenges.

Thanks to our target crew and to our scorer who provided prompt service.

Joe and Art shared the duties of calling the line while shooting the match as well.

Finally, thanks to all the shooters who pitched in to make the event a success.  It was always easy to find someone to lend a hand, even in the heat!

Also a special shout out to Nobby, who kept up with the proceedings and posted respectable results.  As Art said, may we all shoot as well at his age!

Nationals 2026 have been awarded to Selkirk, Manitoba, hope to see you all there!

And the results:

We shot in lovely weather and relatively steady conditions.

With a smaller then usual contingent, YoDave's army still managed to take the top spot in Benchrest, while Derreck won the battle of brothers in Custom and Paul took Sporter.

Mike, Shawn, Derreck and Mel handled the scoring while Tim organized the targets.  Paul organized the match (including the well stocked prize table) and called the line.

Thanks to all our sponsors:

15 shooters showed up to compete in mostly calm conditions, although the second relay did have its moments.

Paul took Sporter (as well as all 4 best targets) while Derreck took Custom, exactly matching his Benchrest score!  We also welcomed Scott, we hope he will make our monthly matches a habit.

Benchrest is becoming quite competitive, with more than half the shooters averaging more than 2000 per target.  Practice makes perfect!

Thanks to Paul for organizing the match, and to Shawn, Mike and Mel for scoring.

Next match is July 19, the Bob Goehring Memorial, our premier match of the year.  Hope to see a good turnout!

Take note we will be hosting the  BRSC Nationals Championships at Mission and District Rod and Gun on August 2-3.

Friday Aug. 1 is a practice day and we will be hosting the BRSC AGM at 3pm in the clubhouse.
Saturday Aug. 2nd is LV 100 in the morning and HV 100 in the afternoon.
Sunday Aug. 3rd will be HV 200 in the morning and LV 200 in the afternoon. Trophy presentation to follow the matches.

Camping for the practice day and matches is allowed, just let us know in advance if you plan to camp.  Also let us know if you need parking for a reloading trailer.

We would also like a head count so we can get things set up.  I'm assuming we will need 2 relays, so let us know about any flag sharing / bench buddy requirements.

Looking forward to seeing everyone there!

PLEASE NOTE:  The July 13th club shoot is CANCELLED.   The date conflicts with the Stampede Shootout in Calgary and a bunch of the local group are headed out there.  Sorry for the inconvenience!

We ended up with 14 shooters, including a welcome half dozen visiting us from the USA.

Conditions varied from quite mild to switchy, with winds running uprange but swapping to catch the unwary.

The competition was very tight, including an epic 5 way tie for second place at 200 yards.  I think this was resolved correctly!

With Joe away on a family matter, Art stepped in to call the line and help with targets as well as his usual scoring duties - He was a busy fellow!  Thanks also to Don who ran the targets.

Congratulations to Jeff Locke, who took the Grand Agg in his first appearance.  Fine shooting in tough competition!

Feel free to post any pics from the shoot to this thread, or pass them along to me and I'll handle it.

14 shooters showed up to compete in typical spring conditions with variable winds, gusty at times.  It's Cottonwood season, and the fluff sometimes passed for wind indicators.

Paul took Benchrest and Sporter while Derreck took Custom with the best overall score of the day.  We also welcomed Clem, we hope he will make our monthly matches a habit!

Thanks to Paul for organizing the match, and to Shawn and Mike for scoring.

Next match is June 28, hope to see a good turnout!

The course of fire will be 20 Score rounds at each of 100, 200 and 300 yards.  Bring 80 rounds or so if you preload.  Awards to third place at each yardage and the Jim Latham Perpetual Trophy to the winner of the Grand Agg.  Your chance for fame and glory!  We will shoot the 300 yard match first to allow for shot spotting in summer conditions,

This match has very few equipment rules - No muzzle brakes and no rail guns.  F-Open rifles are more than welcome!  Jim was always a fan of cross pollination in the shooting sports...

Safety meeting at 8:45, Match begins at 9:00 am sharp and we should be done by 4:00 pm or so.

$40 entry fee - Clubhouse cafeteria is open for lunch!

Pre registration is required, so please email me (markdumont750@gmail.com) or Joe (joemendham@telus.net) if you plan to attend and with any questions.

« on: May 04, 2025, 04:05:20 PM »
With a bunch of absences our May match attracted 6 shooters - Thanks to all who participated.

Weather was challenging from the beginning, with shifting winds and changing temperatures.

Art organized and ran the targets with help from Don.  Art also did the scoring while Joe called the line.  Thanks to all who pitched in.

Next match is our annual Jim Latham Memorial Match Sunday, June 1 where we will shoot Score at 100, 200 and 300 yards.  This match has a long tradition and we hope to see a good turnout!
