ORSA - Ontario Rifle Shooters Association / ORSA Shoot Oct 4-5
« Last post by JDoucette on October 06, 2025, 04:16:19 AM »
The last shoot is complete for the ORSA group for this year. We had beautiful fall weather, with sunshine all weekend long!
Many thanks to the Elmira Rod & Gun club, the membership, and directors, for their support throughout this year.
For many of us who do not compete in the USA, this is the only place we can get together and enjoy this sport, and fellowship.
Thank you to the ORSA membership. I look forward to seeing all of you every year!!
Thanks goes out to the people that make ORSA work, Brian Shoemaker, Paul Connor, Steve Hornsby, Bill Mitchell, Cole Timbers and Stewart Forrest. These are the people we counted on all season long to keep things safe, and enjoyable.
Also thank you to all the volunteers that showed up over this past year to help out with target crews, RSO, scoring, and Kitchen.
This past weekends target crew, was Konrad Schroeder. He did it all by himself. Scorer was Paul Connor, Kitchen, Steve Hornsby, RSO, Brian and myself Thank you all!

Winter well, and hope to see you all in the spring!!

Club Events / Results for 28 september 2025 benchrest score at Sandhill rifle club
« Last post by M Ouellet on October 02, 2025, 08:31:35 AM »
Hello,
Here are the results of the latest benchrest score competition for the 2025 season, held on September 28, 2025, at the Sandhill Shooting Club.
As with every competition result, I repeat my thanks. Thanks to the Sandhill Shooting Club for allowing us to use their facilities, to Roberto for compiling the results, to the officials for ensuring everything ran smoothly, and to Chef Pierre.
We had 22 participants, which is an excellent turnout.
The weather was sunny with some clouds, and our friend the wind kept changing to add a bit of challenge.
The 2025 benchrest score season is over, and I hope all participants enjoyed the 2025 season, even with a few mistakes that occurred.
I hope to see you next season, along with several new shooters.

To all interested parties,
Please consider this an invitation to qualify for the 2027 World Benchrest Team. Canada can send up to 3 teams of 4 shooters on each team for a total of 12 shooters. As of now I will start collecting the names of anyone who wants to get on the qualifying roster for 2027. Cutoff will be Feb 28, 2026 to indicate your interest. If interested send me an email indicating your desire to join the qualifying process. It doesn't cost anything and there is no harm if you change your mind later about qualifying - bob99rich@gmail.com

A tremendous thanks to Rick Pollock for the work he has put into making Canada's WBC process a solid and sustainable one. All aspects of this process have been managed with such a high degree of precision it has been such a benefit to our teams over the years. It will be a truly tough act to follow. Rick has stepped down as Canada's delegate and I will be taking his place for the upcoming WBC 18!

For WBC 18, technically Luxembourg is the host country but the range facility will be in France and quite likely we will fly in and out of France.

regards,
Bob Richards

Team Canada Policy Meeting ? St. Louis 2025
Minutes

1)   Note that Finland has withdrawn from 2027 hosting and the 2027 will now be held at the Volmerange facility in France, which was where the 2011 Championship was held. For 2029 Australia has indicated they would like to host the WBC.
2)   Nominate and Vote for Delegate for 2027. Rick Pollock is stepping down as delegate and the new delegate is Bob Richards by acclimation. Bob has been to several WBC events and is past President of APRA and has extensive experience in organizing club activities. WBSF to be notified of our new delegate.
3)   Bank Account Balance after expenses is $2,380.97. Total of $12,950 in sponsorship raised. Thanks to all our sponsors:
 a)   Rosebud
 b)   Plenty O Patches
 c)   HWP
 d)   Lake of the Woods - Kenora
 e)   March Scopes Canada
 f)   APRA
 g)   ORSA
 h)   BRSC
4)   What to do with funds remaining from 2025 event? These will be carried over to 2027 event and provide seed money for the team.
5)   Re-affirm Qualifying procedure for 2027:
 a)   Qualifying to take place in 2026 Calendar year. Agreed by shooters.
 b)   Top 6 grand aggregates are counted towards points total. Discuss reducing this to 4 grand aggs? It was agreed to reduce the qualifying events to a total of 4   Grand Aggregates in order to increase participation in the qualifying process.
 c)   Points are earned by number of competitors you beat in each grand aggregate. This stays the same.
 d)   No cap on points, since there are no really big shoots anymore. Agreed by shooters and stays the same.
 e)   any LV, HV, SP match anywhere will count.
 f)   Indicate interest by the end of January 2026. Agreed.
 g)   Qualifying order to be finalized and published by end of year 2026.
 h)   BRSC membership required in qualifying year and in Championship year. This will carry on as there is a requirement to support Canadian benchrest and shoots  to get on the team.
6)   Re-Affirm that current World Team members set policy for 2027 WBC. Agreed to by shooters.
7)   Old Business? None.
8)   New Business? None.

I am pleased to report Canada Team 1 was 5th in the 2-Gun team Championship, and Canada Team 3 was 9th and Canada Team 2 was 10th. This was after shooting the NBRSA Nationals the week before. This was a challenge for our shooters and they still managed to get it done after about 16 days of shooting in total. Thanks to everyone for the support of the team and now looking forward to Volmerange in France in 2027!

Cal,

Hugh and Rob are tied at 9 Hall of Fame points each. Only a matter of time until one of them is the first Canadian in the Hall of Fame.
