BRSC - Benchrest Shooters Canada / Founding member of BRSC passes
« Last post by Dennis Sorensen on February 23, 2026, 08:18:05 PM »
Steve Zibresky age 89, a Namaka Benchrest Shooter and one of the 7 founding members of Benchrest Shooters of Canada, passed away February 22, 2026 in Calgary. He was very active in building the Namaka Club at the original location. I have fond memories of him at our work parties and competing with him at the first night shoot we held and the Super Shoots.

We are getting close to the end of Feb - which is the cutoff date for shooters declaring their interest to qualify for WBC 18 hosted by Luxembourg at the Volmerange France shooting range.

A couple of things about this qualifying year:
- at the last world team meeting it was decided to reduce the number of eligible grand aggregates to four (instead of 6 from previous years)
- at the last world team meeting the cap on maximum score per grand agg was removed
- if you have some interest in qualifying there is no cost so, its better to let me know and be in the running than regret it later
- funds were transferred to me for the World Team in the amount of $2,356.47 and nothing has been done with them to date however, it has generated just over $1 in interest so far :-)
- attached is the list of potential qualifiers to date...

** The attached list was updated at end of day today 18-Feb-2026

For those of you that know Vince Bottomley from the UK here's a brief update for you.

Vince was diagnosed with Pancreatic & Liver cancer recently. He has some other serious health complications as well. As a consequence of these health issues he has stepped down from his various responsibilities in the UKBRA.

Due to his poor health he is not up for in person visitors but is responding to email targetshooteronline@icloud.com should you wish to reach out to him.
regards,
Bob Richards

Update for those who plan on attending the 2026 Nationals.  It is official.  We have 4 days blocked out for the Nationals.  September 3-6, 2026.

Camping is available for those who so desire as well as room for loading trailers.

Those that plan on attending on their return trip from Holton, there will be provisions for those of you for early access.  We will do what we can to accomodate you as best as we can.

The plan at this time is a BR 101 clinic will be held on the 3rd.  Rick Pollock said they are prepared to host the clinic.

The 4th gives a full day of practice as well as the AGM.
5th and 6th the shoot dates.
7th Labor Day travel home for those who have been away from home for a LONG time.

There has also been inquiries about pre registering.  If you are thinking or planning on coming, just send me a text or email.  Any questions or thoughts call, text, email me at

On Sunday, January 18, 2026, SABRA members completed a successful trial of the Shot Marker system at 100 yards, and the results were excellent. With the remaining three target boards nearly finished, we are close to having 16 fully operational targets ready for upcoming events.  The trial helped us confirm the system?s strengths and identify a few areas for fine-tuning.  Were very pleased with the progress and excited to continue developing this project.  Our goal is to shoot out of the Taber Shooting Centre.  We welcome donations, advice, and feedback from the shooting community as we move forward.  If you would like to support this project, donations can be sent to treasurer.sabra@gmail.com
Thank you for being part of SABRA?s continued growth and success.
